Looks like Fahrenheit 9/11 is set to do well in the UK ...

... if the website of the main Arthouse cinema in the city of Newcastle upon Tyne is anything to judge by.

I can't remember the last time the theatre got this excited about an opening, and they carry some pretty interesting and controversial stuff. Interesting that they expect it to get a "15" Certificate.

It will be interesting to see how many of the the multiplexes are screening it next week.

1. 15 certificate seems confirmed
http://uk.movies.yahoo.com/040625/242/ewp7d.html

though local authorities in theory can override the BBFC classification, they very rarely do, and I've not heard of any pressure for them to do so (unlike, say, Life of Brian, which got the equivalent of a 15 certificate in its time).

2. Talking to the Tyneside Cinema manager last night...
... who confirmed that the first day is well booked. However, the multiplexes aren't taking the movie up for now. He reckons they're waiting to see how it's doing in the smaller houses...

Interesting how they didn't do that with "Passion of the Christ"....
