Teacher Uses First Amendment Selectively in Facebook Case
A social studies teacher in Florida has been reinstated after being suspended for comments on his Facebook website. What were those comments and how did they set up conflicts involving free speech, gay rights and even freedom of religion?

My take: The instructor should have been suspended - even fired - but not for the reasons you might think.

1. It is NOT your own personal comment protected by the 1st...
When you admit that you are using what you say - in public and in the classroom - to "indoctrinate" students to your CHOSEN way of life.

2. The guy sounds unbalanced
I think they were correct to suspend him.

The board is much more responsible to protect the rights of the children in its care than it is to protect the rights of its teachers, and this guy was way out on his own page as far as that goes.
