WOW! "I am a life-long republican from Iowa..."
Edited on Mon Aug-02-04 09:19 AM by OhMyGod
I am a life-long republican from Iowa, and am very concerned with the direction the Republican party is going.
As a man of faith, I am very skeptical that George Bush holds the same faiths I do, I feel he politicizes it FAR too much.
I hope this is a true and open dialogue so that we may keep to our values and keep “the good” in office. I want my two children to grow up in a country with real Republican values, many of which reflect the Christian household I was brought up in. I was also taught there MUST be a separation of church and state, a small government, and compassion for fellow man are necessary.
I want to live in a country where I can speak my mind about the issues that matter to me without fear.
...

do not think that increasing the national debt by 420 billion! dollars is very conservative, I myself have no debt and was raised to never ever go in debt. My kids are inheriting a massive debt from my generation that their kids just may be paying on too!

Now that it proven there were no weapons of mass destruction, didn’t President Bush break the commandment “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor”?

Going to war breaks the commandment
“Thou shalt not kill”. My family has fought in every American war since the Civil War. War is SOMETIMES justified obviously, but violence begets violence. Even more ~ not supporting our troops properly, putting them in harm's way needlessly, cutting their pay and screwing with Veterans Benefits.

5. The republican party if filled with right wing religious wacko's
and spendthrifts who think nothing of blowing money. It was co-opted all through the 80's and 90's. These shifts have forced the Dem's to change their stance on issues also. If we had more than two stinking parties in this country it would go a log way to diffusing these right wing nutjobs. But--the nutjobs have made a science out of discrimination including political discrimination.

7. It's a troll
Christian Republicans who enumerate violations against the Ten Commandments usually don't talk about "screwing with Veterans Benefits", or "screwing" with anything else for that matter.

9. I respectfully disagree
I use the Bible all the time to discredit the crap that some Christians use to support W and the actions of this administration. It's terribly effective. And I would most definitely use the word "screwing" to refer to what is being done to the American people, our troops and the world - although I've started to use "Cheney-ing" to better effect. :)

I am not however, either Republican or for that matter particularly Christian. I don't know/care if this person is a troll on another board. What matters to me is that the radical right's own source of superiority and moral righteousness is being used against them.

It seems that soon most republicans and democrats alike will be supporting Kerry. :)
