The Latest Big Brother Scheme: "Registered Traveler"
After public outcry shut down the draconian CAPPS II surveillance program that would have subjected all airline passengers to being labeled on their "danger risk," the Bush Administration is being more subtle, trying to enact a giant new surveillance scheme by starting it as an optional program.

1. And if you believe this will only be used preventatively...
Within weeks of proposing the previous air passenger surveillance scheme (CAPPS II), TSA officials admitted they'd use the information for purposes unrelated to aviation security.

This is an important read. I also followed the piece on ReclaimDemocracy.org to a more in-depth piece on CAPPS II. These guys kick ass.
