Even Lieberman couldn't break the hold of Bush's carrying the sword for Israel's security in these Jewish journals. I suspect this article is still a rarity, but who can escape the disillusionment, the disgust over wasted bloodshed, the indifference to the Palestinian/Israeli impasse and the far right fundamentalist attack on everything else many American Jews hold in value.

The truth is far far worse and they shouldn't get a single Jewish vote. This is a beginning even if the majority is swinging back to reason. The strong for Israel fallback is all too tragically reminiscent of other palliatives to the mind that generations of Jews have acceded to find a place in various dangerous societies. And in the end Bush may be incredibly bad and dangerous for Israel at a time when actual progress could have been made. As always, the mistake for Jews can be more fatal than any reasonable mind would allow. Look hard to history.

8. Bush is not good for Israel

I'm Jewish. Anyone who assists the hard-liner Sharon and his pals is not doing Israel or the world any big favor.

An American President should be supporting the peace process, not undermining it.
