Kerry has no need to defend his Vietnam record - He was there, Bush wasn't
http://www.profindpages.com/news/2004/08/20/MN301.htm

The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth advert has been grabbing the headlines lately, but then, that's the whole purpose of the ad.

<snip>

Perhaps the most important issue when discussing the war records of Kerry and Bush, is that John Kerry did volunteer to go to Vietnam, while Bush changed his unit in order to avoid a trip there. Whatever comments might be raised about how a person carried out their duties in Vietnam, there is no getting away from the fact that it takes a great deal of courage to volunteer for any war!

<snip>

Bush has done nothing for the Vietnam Vets and has cost the lives of almost 1000 more soldiers in Iraq, a war that should never have happened. He sells his "mission" with the words of patriotism to the troops and the people of America, while he and his friends make a nice little profit. A true patriot is someone who is prepared to fight and die for their country, not someone who "dodges" their duty and lets other people do their dirty work!

1. Not so simple ...
takes this as the worst case - Lt. Calley was there too. Wihtout a defense, the opposition will paint Kerry any way they want. The charges must be countered.

3. They need to hammer: O'Neill in Bed with Nixon....
Repigs hate Nixon and don't want anybody bringing up Nixon, but the truth is that O'Neill also did the dirty work for Nixon.

6. Thanos speaks...
They both served in the Military, that's all that needs to be said. This shouldn't be a political topic of any sorts. They both need to focus on America in general and what needs to be done to help this country. Arguing about so-and-so's Military service is ridiculous.
