Steadfast, disciplined, Bush sees himself as unchanged by presidency

Steadfast, disciplined, Bush sees himself as unchanged by events of presidency

George W. Bush loves to tell people about the time Japan's prime minister compared him to Gary Cooper, hero of the Western movie "High Noon."

America's 43rd president cultivates the tough-guy image, offering himself as a blunt-spoken man of action. "I'm a gut player," he says.

<snip>

"The man has a whole lot more wrinkles," says Johnson, now deputy director of the Office of Management and Budget. Adviser Karen Hughes says that in the lines on Bush's face are etched "some of the weight of the world."

<snip>

The president's idea of gardening might involve a chainsaw. But he also loves to work jigsaw puzzles, go for long walks and birdwatch -- not exactly typical Alpha male activities.

"He's the one, when we were at camp, who spotted the scarlet tanager," says the first lady. "He has great 20-20 eyesight."

7. Great qualities
So, let me get this straight; being presidential means being a 'gut player', having wrinkles, being able to identify a bird, working jigsaw puzzles and playing with a chainsaw?

Sounds like a pretty easy job. Where do I sign up?

8. It's called dry drunk Mr Bush. Inflexibility and grandiose behavior
are not considered desirable traits. Especially for the "leader of the free world". How frightening is that. I should add delusional but that probably is just him not the dry drunk. Or maybe not so dry drunk?

14. Bush, the Regular Guy
Stubborn, with an inflexibility that only one with a low IQ could muster, Bush has been unchanged by the presidency.... While nurturing a tough-guy exterior, Bush is secretly a pussycat. "I'm a gutless coward," he confessed.

Back home at the ranch in Crawford, when he's not engaging in manly activities like running around in circles or riding his bicycle, he is fond of more quiet pursuits, such as tearing the legs off grasshoppers or dousing frogs with gasoline and lighting them on fire. He gets particular enjoyment out of playing practical jokes on all the members of his entourage.

His 20/20 eyesight often enables him to spot crippled war veterans approaching from afar so that he can take appropriate evasive action.

We are supposed to take his mental defects as virtues....

too stupid and impulsive to think things through = decisive,

too weak and insecure to admit he's made a mistake = steady.

He is a moron who fucks things up from the beginning and then forbids anyone to point out that he's fucked up and needs to change course... the worst imaginable president!!!!

He sucks!

41. No! He has greatness of a kind.
No average man could put us in a budget sinkhole for generations to come and ruin our standing in the world in just three short years. He's done that and more than I can list! "Average" or "regular" does not recognize his special skill for destroying things others have worked so hard to build.

32. I know. The final stupid words from a stupid man.

More of the Bush pathology. He can't admit to making any mistakes, so he can't say he's learned from them. He can't say he's a "better man" now, because then he would be admitting he was deficient.

Bush is the perfect, mistake-free Ruler, the ex cathedra Pope of America!

44. That Ms. Benac even got this past her editor
just goes to show how far this country has fallen.

Some people just lap this drivel up, though- vacuous as it is. This piece exemplifies all that honest, intelligent people like us are fighting. It's the image that's been built up that must be taken down and discredited. Shown for what it truly is.

If our side can't do that, then we stand to lose, regardless of the facts.

I thought so. Starting from nervous deer in the headlights shiftiness to chortling joy at hitting the trifecta of 9/11 exploitation Bush remains the self-centered Favorite Son.

Still a drunk too, I suppose. Still as ignorant as a brick as he was during the campaign. Has not grown in the office. Suffers those Nixonian delusions of being a movie star tough guy(Send him a DVD of "Patton").

It's all we expected, after all, the insensitive, vacation loving delegater of pain and misery.

God has given him no grace to become better all these four years, by his own admission.

Another stupid contradicting statement. THAT certainly has not changed.

Boy, are they losing it as the Great Denial Convention looms.

I was watching M*A*S*H last week and it was the episode where the 4077 members were interviewed (in black and white) for some TV program. Frank Burns was asked, "Have your experiences here changed you?" and he said "Not at all." with an expression of "why would they?" on his face. Bush is the perfect Frank Burns. An obnoxious, paranoid, cowardly, self-righteous asshole.
