The 9/13/04 Torpedo that Sinks Bush-Cheney * Let the Election War Begin!

Right after the RNC convention, actually Labor day weekend, this book (information attached) will dominate the air and print media for the next month. I have reviewed an advanced copy and it will clearly sink the Bush-Cheney White House! George Bush should have never called Seymour Hersh a liar and a phony, in a White House press conference, when Hersh broke the Iraq Abu Ghraid prisoner abuse scandel.

Political Book Reviews

“Unfit for Command” by John O’Neill and Jerome Corsi - A “tabloid rag”, by authors of no literary significance, which was easily dispersed by investigative journalists, and others, as nothing more than a Bush-Cheney White House scam to malicously defraud Senator John Kerry, in the same fashion the Bush-Cheney Administration defrauded Senator John McCain in 2000.

"Chain of Command” by Seymour Hersh – A definitive piece, by the forefront Pulitzer Prize-winning author Seymour Hersh, which provides shocking new facts and details in exposing the current Administration’s failed policies in Iraq and Afghanistan. Released Date: September 13, 2004

Book Description
Since September 11, 2001, Seymour M. Hersh has riveted readers -- and outraged the Bush Administration -- with his stories in The New Yorker, including his breakthrough pieces on the Abu Ghraib prison scandal. Now, in Chain of Command, he brings together this reporting, along with new revelations, to answer the critical question of the last three years: how did America get from the clear morning when hijackers crashed airplanes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon to a divisive and dirty war in Iraq?

Hersh established himself at the forefront of investigative journalism thirty-five years ago when he broke the news of the massacre at My Lai, Vietnam, for which he won a Pulitzer Prize. Ever since, he's challenged America's power elite by publishing the stories that others can't, or won't, tell. In exposés on subjects ranging from Saudi corruption to nuclear black marketeers and -- months ahead of other journalists -- the White House's false claims about weapons of mass destruction, Hersh has cemented his reputation as the indispensable reporter of our time.

In Chain of Command, Hersh takes an unflinching look behind the public story of President Bush's "war on terror" and into the lies and obsessions that led America into Iraq. He reveals the connections between early missteps in the hunt for Al Qaeda and disasters on the ground in Iraq. The book includes a new account of Hersh's pursuit of the Abu Ghraib story and of where, he believes, responsibility for the scandal ultimately lies. Hersh draws on sources at the highest levels of the American government and intelligence community, in foreign capitals, and on the battlefield for an unparalleled view of a crucial chapter in America's recent history. With an introduction by The New Yorker's editor, David Remnick, Chain of Command is a devastating portrait of an Administration blinded by ideology and of a President whose decisions have made the world a more dangerous place for America.

Thanks for all of your hard work! I always look forward to your posts.

BTW, do you have a website for the Beltway and Texas Republicans v. BC'04? I have been looking for a URL, but I can't seem to track it down.

Thanks again!

2. So? It's a book, just like all the other books
that are big and expensive and that we liberals buy from Barnes and Noble or amazon.com, read, and get outraged over, but that the average person will hardly even know about. Some bits from the book will make news on most of the cable channels and nightly news for a day or two, Hersh will be the Charlie Rose show and some of the Sunday shows, it will get some other mentions in newspapers and other places here and there, and then poof!, it'll be gone from the airwaves and conscience of everyone except us, who'll again be gnashing our teeth wondering WHY people aren't paying attention (if the average person does happen to hear something about this, they'll say "damn, that's terrible" then immediately forget). If it looks like it's getting *too* much attention, the Republican Noise Machine will kick in and drag Hersh though the mud. We've seen this before. Just like with Joe Wilson's book and just like with Richard Clarke's book and just like with John Dean's book and just like with Greg Palast's book and just like with Joe Conason's book and just like with all the other books that, as an aside, I wish had been released in paperback by now.

We know it's true. I'll be pegged as a trollish naysayer, but haven't we seen this happen time and time again? Things we thought were going to be BIG NEWS that were almost completely ignored and forgotten very quickly?

This is an important story, but the Thugs will make sure it's buried. I hope for better from the media, for them to make this into a Truly Big Deal, and the national psyche, to realize that it REALLY IS a Truly Big Deal, but expect almost nothing from either.

The DVD/VHS of Fahrenheit 9/11 is still the best hope of reaching the masses. Hersh's book, and all the other $25.00+ books will be important to historians. A movie that can be rented for $3.00 and watched in less than 2 hours will be important to our cause NOW.

All that said, I do of course hope I'm very very wrong and will never be happier to eat globs of crow if people really do pay attention and this book does make a difference. In any case, I've been waiting impatiently for it and can't wait to read it.

3. Neither will true believers, the apathetic, the brain-dead nor brainwashed
care a whit about what Mr. Hersch speaks, for their minds are made up and most know W loves Jesus and is an instrument of God. Were this not true, W would likely receive less than 25% of the vote.

4. If the books contains information equivilent to
indisputable evidence of somthing like the Nixon Plumbers, then possibly. Otherwise, It may have a marginal effect (but with the election being as close as it is, it just may do it.)
