An explanation for Bush (Beaufort SC)
Web posted Friday, September 3, 2004
By John David Rose
Special to the Carolina Morning News

"Dry drunk," a slang term used by Alcoholics Anonymous and substance abuse counselors, describes an alcoholic who no longer drinks but whose mental acuity is still dulled. <snip>

It all makes sense. Consider Bush's nonsense phrases, strained grammar and mental hiccups: "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning?" and "There's an old saying ... that says, fool me once, shame on - shame on you. Fool me - you can't get fooled again." <snip>

His inability to connect the dots between his actions and words - his rejection of Geneva Convention rules and the Abu Ghraib torture scandal, for example - indicates something ain't connecting, for whatever reason. <snip>

1. I don't know if the alcohol did it
I think it's a safe bet to say Dubya has been a moron since day one.

That's the *Bluffton* paper. The Beaufort Gazette remains the daily local newspaper in Beaufort, SC: http://www.beaufortgazette.com/

4. CMN claims Beaufort, Bluffton, and Hilton Head. If Beaufort Gazette ..
doesn't like it, the two papers can slug it out themselves: I'm not taking sides. But I'm sure both papers will be thrilled to know that their turf-battle still excites passions in North Dakota.

3. Which came first?
The sociopath or the alcoholic. My bet's on sociopath. George Bush gives alcoholics a bad name.
