A viable democracy is predicated upon an informed electorate of independent thinkers who constantly question authority and those blabbing the media "gospel." However, it is not surprising that a lazy nation of obese junk food aficionados prefers political pabulum to incisive intellectual investigation.
One pervasive hallucination is that G.W. Bush is a "strong leader." Comparison with "strong" Presidents (Washington, Lincoln, TR, FDR, Truman, JFK, and Reagan) shows that a majority served in the military, many in combat; their military records did not "disappear;" war was a last resort and won with skill, restraint, and sensitive intelligence; each embraced and advanced science; none prostituted religion or a tragedy like 9/11 for political gain; war time Presidents saw a robust economy of American made goods; none officiated over a national convention of lies and hateful negativity; none required apologists to untangle irrational phrases; none was pictured wearing an unearned military ribbon; none tolerated the public mocking of a military medal, and none permitted an aide to compare Americans to a 10 year old child.
Mr. Bush is clearly a droll, simple minded soul lacking vision and insight who only sounds authoritative. He has led America into IraqNam; polluted the planet; bankrupted the treasury; weakened our military and cheated veterans and the middle class. His election clearly requires a voting majority of 10 year olds.
"It is this simplicity that makes the uneducated more effective than the educated when addressing popular audiences." Aristotle (Rhetoric;II:22)
