Bush's Youth Under Scrutiny
By Dan Froomkin

After weeks in which the political discourse was nearly dominated by the scrutinizing of Sen. John F. Kerry's conduct in the Vietnam War era, President Bush now may find himself under the microscope and on the defensive for actions in his past.

Kerry supporters are actively questioning Bush's spotty record as a stateside National Guardsmen during the Vietnam War. A former senior politician in Texas is telling people he pulled strings to get Bush into the guard.

And an Associated Press investigation has concluded that key documents that should have been written to explain gaps in Bush's guard service are missing.

Jill Zuckman writes in the Chicago Tribune: "Across Ohio and into West Virginia over the Labor Day weekend, Kerry supporters took to the campaign stage with mocking, caustic, scornful rhetoric directed at President Bush's military service and Vice President Dick Cheney's lack of service."

1. But Bush has the "Get out of Jail Free" card
He can always pull the "Born Again" CYA. Now if it can be proven that he did naughty things after his supposed "Born Again" experience then that is another thing...

3. Isn't funny that Carla Faye Tucker
didn't get to play the very same card? Well, born again, shmorn again, seeing "the light" and doing something about your past are two entirely different things.

6. "Please don't kill me," mocked in Gov. Chimp.
Yeah, CF Tucker didn't get a break, and Gov. Chimp showed his compassioante conservatism when he made fun of her death by lethal injection while he takes credit for being "tough on crime".

I can understand a heartless heathen mocking her (but none did), but his Christian values should have told him to STFU.

one reason many "bornagains" decided against voting for * last time, after finding out about his drunk driving charge(s?), was because he lies about it.

to idealist fundies, like with AA folk, facing ones 'sins' is essential to true forgiveness.

perhaps it is most important to write media, asking them to do their job confronting * on this and upcoming charges about cocaine abuse.

his administration's having now sold out the entire (*edit: sane remnant of the) republican party to seal the fundamentalists' vote, he must be exposed as the pathological liar that he is.

peace

2. Yep, and he brought it on himself...
By not blasting the Swift Boat Liars.

The good news is that when Kelley's book gains greater currency, his middle age will be scrutinized too.

4. darn! we already know boosh is a joke
i thought this was going to be about boosh's youth supporters like the boy who was kicking the female protester at the conention and the Roveing gangs of hooligans in NY looking for the "leftists" to beat up.
