Do you subscribe to The Atlantic Monthly? Osama, Bush, Spitzer, Pakistan
Edited on Tue Sep-07-04 10:03 PM by gristy
Look at these articles this month. I'm sliding into bed right now with my hard-copy...

p. 58 TICK TICK TICK
Pakistan is a nuclear time bomb - perhaps the greatest threat to American security today. Here's how to defuse it by Graham Allison

p. 68 Bush's Lost Year
By deciding to invade Iraq, the Bush Administration decided not to do many other things: not to reconstruct Afghanistan, not to deal with the threats posed by North Korea and Iran, and not to wage an effective war on teror. An inventory of opportunities lost by James Fallows

p. 88 The Long Hunt for Osama
Where has he been? How did we ever let him get away? by Peter Bergen

p. 108 The Crusader
Eliot Spitzer, the attorney general of New York, has risen to national prominence by emulating Teddy Roosevelt and fearlessly taking on powerful interests. His aggressiveness has made him a lot of enemies - but it may propel him to the governor's mansion and beyond by Sridhar Pappu

1. Atlantic was very very pro bush on the run up to the war
Edited on Tue Sep-07-04 10:09 PM by The_Casual_Observer
Then after Michael Kelly, editor and bush ass kisser was killed in Iraq they kind of shut up about it. James Fallows is an editor there, so it's kind of dicey what shows up in it.

At the outset of the war I posted that I wouldn't use the Atlantic for toilet paper... a response post was..."you use toilet paper??" Those were the days...

3. i can't wait till i have a REAL job
and can afford things like a subscription to Atlantic Monthly. I'm still stuck in the post-college McJob, so I read the AM at Barnes & Noble and don't pay for it.

6. Those magazines are a nuisance really.
They stack up & then you don't want to throw them a away....
Better to just do what you are doing and use it as excuse to socialize.
