Subject: New polls show 144,000 new American jobs .... why this number????

It is very interesting that the Bush Administration, the day after the GOP Convention, would claim that polls show 144,000 new jobs due to the leadership of Bush.

Anyone who is a Bible student immediately recognizes the significance of that number as being from the Book of Revelation. It has to do with the the events of the "last days" and carries significant importance to fundamentalists Christians and Jehovah's Witnesses.

Is this a "message" to the fundamentalist Christians who take the symbolic number with all seriousness? Give this some thought.

I am NOT a fundamentalist but I am a mainstream Christian!

2. Also, there was mention on a blog I.....
read today about issuance of national ID cards. Isn't that also something in Revelations? About everyone having some sort of mark?

3. Comes from the 12 Tribes of Israel.
12 tribes, 12 thousand from each tribe. It is a bit foggy now but I remember learning about this when looking at all the various bible errors & inconsistencies.

7. Well, according to the Jehovah's Witnesses . . .
The good ones are resurrected in a "Heaven on Earth," and the bad ones just stay dead.

Only 144,000 actually get join the big man in that rumpus room in the sky though.

(Hey, I was raised in a JW family, we all saw them for the screwballs they were before it was too late, but after hanging around for a few too many years for my taste).

I ask if they think they'll be among the 144,000. Then I point out that the odds aren't very good for them. Then I suggest that they might want to convert to Catholicism, where all they'd have to do is confess their sins to guarantee salvation -- the odds clearly are better. Then I ask why a religious cult that believes the end of the world is imminent is spending so much money on real property located in Brooklyn. Then I tell them to get to fuck off my property and never come back!

6. 144,000
...is the number (according to the End Times/Left Behind people) of prophets that arise from Israel to preach the Second Coming of Christ.
