A furious row has broken out over claims in a new book by BBC broadcaster James Naughtie that US Secretary of State Colin Powell described neo-conservatives in the Bush administration as 'fucking crazies' during the build-up to war in Iraq.

5. He said "plucking daisies" - why can't anyone see that? Remember the

infamous "daisy" ad from 1964? It was used to scare voters about Goldwater and the nuclear button. Powell simply meant that the neocons were using the same scare tactics to beat the war drums. It is just his colorful way of speaking. Why can't anyone see that? Heh.
