Yoko Ono awards peace grants to Seymour Hersh, Mordechai Vanunu
NEW YORK (AP) _ Yoko Ono has awarded two peace grants to journalist Seymour Hersh and Israeli nuclear whistleblower Mordechai Vanunu, men she said epitomize her late husband John Lennon's song "Gimme Some Truth."

Hersh and Vanunu will each receive a $50,000 LennonOno Grant for Peace, according to a statement released Thursday by Ono's publicist, Elliot Mintz.

Ono said the 2004 honorees were "people who have spoken out for the benefit of the human race by overcoming extreme personal difficulties and, in doing so, have allowed the truth to prevail."

"My hope is that the awards will not only honor the two recipients for their incredible courage but ask others to follow their example to take a stand for truth," she said in the statement.

3. Good for Yoko
And the song is one of John's best

JUST GIMME SOME TRUTH - John Lennon

I’m sick and tired of hearing things
From uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocritics
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth
I’ve had enough of reading things
By neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth

No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of tricky dicky
Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocketful of hope
Money for dope
Money for rope

No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of tricky dicky
Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocketful of soap
Money for dope
Money for rope

I’m sick to death of seeing things
From tight-lipped, condescending, mama’s little chauvinists
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth now

I’ve had enough of watching scenes
Of schizophrenic, ego-centric, paranoiac, prima-donnas
All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth

No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of tricky dicky
Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocketful of soap
It’s money for dope
Money for rope

Ah, I’m sick and tired of hearing things
From uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocrites
All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth now

I’ve had enough of reading things
By neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians
All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth now

All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth now
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth

6. I love Yoko.
Even if Paul doesn't.

I saw her retrospective show in San Francisco and I was amazed at her talent. I thought she was just a conceptual artist but when I saw her drawings I could tell that she is the real thing: she knows how to draw!!!

I wish John was here today so that he could speak out like he always did. I'm sure he would have a few political songs about * and Blair.
