War is peace
SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER EDITORIAL BOARD

President Bush delivered his campaign stump speech in yet another venue yesterday, the United Nations, as he again attempted to defend the U.S. invasion of Iraq -- this time to the international body he'd said would become little more than a debating society if it failed to follow his call to war in Iraq.

Bush repeated his theme that salvation and stability for the Middle East could be accomplished by outside powers imposing democracy at the point of a gun. He said Afghanistan and Iraq "will be a model for the broader Middle East."

<snip>

Despite Bush's invasion of Iraq in what Annan now calls an illegal war, the president said yesterday that U.N. members must "do more" to help in Iraq.

<snip>

For a president who waged pre-emptive war in Iraq in defiance of the United Nations, citing now disproved weapons threats and now discredited terrorist connections, it seems a lesson learned too late.

Good for the Seattle PI Editorial Board!!! It's about damned time.

2. Note the byline: "Editorial Board"

That means it's unanimous at the P-I, not just a solo voice. Thank heavens that someone in the major establishment print media actually gets it. Orwell's nightmare is fully upon us, 20 years later than titled.. I wonder how that'll play across the Sound. Lot's of military and ex-military over there.

4. I heard that whole speech. The hypocracy was just Incredible, but I
realized that it's just what he wants to do. He wants to be "in your face" the "bully boy" telling the world that it's under his boot.

The coughing in the audience was prolonged and throughout his speech. Particularly when he was being his most "in your face." I wondered if the air in the room was stagnant or the coughs were a way of the UN trying to distract themselves from the Idiot/Bully Boy speaking. I give them credit. I would have left the room in disgust. Maybe they should have. When will someone give it back to him? But, I realize every country there worries about setting him off with our WMD reigning down on their heads. Not nice to walk out when you could be the next target for these folks ...the beast of America unleashed.

He made me so ashamed to be an American...

5. I couldn't help thinking ...
... that the United States insulted every UN member country by even having him strut, bluster, and smirk at them. He's a disgrace to the US and an insult to the rest of the world.
