GIs lost between chaos and quiet (Enlisted turning on Bush)
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2004/09/26/MNGGP8VC8V1.DTL

<snip>

"Bring the troops home!" one soldier said when he realized he was talking to a reporter. "Tell the politicians: Bring. The. Troops. HOME!"

At night, after the patrols are over and the guys sit around and jaw, the topic of politics comes up. While most of the officers and senior NCOs are generally conservative, the young troops span the spectrum. And those who don't plan to make the military their career will tell you how they feel.

Many are unhappy with President Bush, openly saying they'll vote for John Kerry. Some think the war was a mistake. Even some who agree with the invasion -- or liberation -- think the current operation is unfocused, unclear, with no discernible goal.

"I think the war was justified, but this ... this is just messed up," one soldier said.

2. UCMJ politics is usually ketp out of the ward room
as well as religion

They took an oath to the Constitution

This is why this is so astounding, and hstorically it has no parallel

yes there was some disent in the ranks during Nam, but troops waited until they were out to speak out, due to the possible consequences

This time around teh disent is open among the ranks... this is astounding folks

4. oh one more piece of data for yuo
back in 92 the buzz was Clinton

When I left Naval Station Pearl harbor (Hubby managed to retire even in the midst of this mess), the buzz was Clark, or ABB

Wanna bet the buzz is Kerry now?
