Local group proposes tent city for homeless

DENVER - A coalition calling itself the Denver Tent City Initiative presented a proposal to the city's commission on homelessness Tuesday that calls for building a tent city that provides temporary shelter year-round.

2. they should study

the "Dignity Village" here in Portland. It sounded like a good idea...the homeless wanted dignity, and a place to call home. The areas all around the place is plaqued with trash / litter and human feces. There is constant fighting among them and quite frankly it does not work.

3. Ooops...responded before I read the entire story...

If they are modeling it after Dignity Village they better take a LONG hard look at it. It can be made to work but not without assistance from the city. Portland just looked the other way, and pretty much leaves them alone....except for the Police which are constantly called down there.
