Anyone else watching the CPAC on CSPAN2?
Now talking about the FDA and how it should be eliminated. Complaining about how much tobacco and other industries are regulated.

1. De-regulation is just one way for the crooks to rise to the top.
There may be people who want to scream at me but when I am flying I want the air traffic contollers and airplanes regulated. I want safety and not corporate profit. When I am taking medicine, I want safety and not corporate profit. When I invest in the NYSE, I want safety and not corporate profit.

To me, regulation is safety and high government standards over profit taking. There are some things in this country that need to be regulated and if it comes to my health or safety, I would rather they be in the hands of a "capable" government rather than a money hungry, greedy, CEO.

5. I'm afraid this country is going to have to completely tank
There are too many battles on too many fronts, and not enough people interested and energetic enough to fight it.

I think this country is going to have to completely go down the toilet before enough people learn a lesson.

That means that people like me will die first, and we will be unnoticed and unmourned, but that seems to be the way that it will happen.

I can only hope that there are a *few* people here on DU who at least recognize that some of us are going to die and rather soon, and have just a small place in their hearts to care. So far I don't feel much of that. I feel like those of us who are going first are sacrificing ourselves in much the same way as the troops. Our deaths will be the very small and unnoticed start of a larger downfall.
