Boo Hoo, Bill Bennett lost his way of making his living

But being a hypocritical moral scold, or even a plain moral scold is about appealing to me as being a hit man. It's like these far right "pundits" like David Horowitz or Ann Coulter. Or a crooked preacher. Yeah, you can make a ton of bucks selling out and being intellectually and morally dishonest, using one's intellect to con gullible people out of money. Isn't there something fundamentally immoral and unethical and not personally responsible about this? If nothing else, aren't these folks just a wee bit worried that maybe there are heavy rewards and punishments in an afterlife? How can they stand the reflection in the mirror?

Now I understand that one of the beefs that conservatives have with us is that we think we are smarter, and it isn't polite, and they're doing the best they can. But let's face it. We are smarter. We don't make wild assertions at the top of our lungs that our conclusions are "FACTS!" and connect our thinking with one fallacy after another. We don't go around complaining about adultery if that is our weakness (Newt, Livingston, Hyde, Burton, Barr(?) etc., etc.) and for God's sake, we don't set ourselves up as a general purpose moral authority school marm if we are on a first name basis with every croupier on both coasts blowing sums of money that would make Michael Jordan blush. I know supposedly well educated conservatives who were railing at Clinton and his mighty penis while living in sin with someone whose divorce wasn't final after a series of affairs with other folks whose divorce wasn't final while their own divorce wasn't final, sucking down all the spousal support she could (with no reduction for living with someone else) and not seeing even the slightest hypocrisy in that. Well heck, they had such low personal standards that apparently they had operated under the mistaken impression that they had put their own moral and responsible behavior in a blind trust with Bill Clinton because they hated him and wouldn't accidentally bump into him and ask for it back, and were actually offended when he cheated on his wife. ("Well, I expect a lot more of my President!" 'Relax, he is a much better human being than you are.')

4. Aw, gee, now he can't make a living?
Maybe if he'd hung on to that $8 million he blew on gambling, he could retire right about now and not have to worry about making a living.

Bill Bennett: Gambling Hit Pieces Won't Silence Me

Conservative ethicist Bill Bennett emerged from a self imposed two month silence on Tuesday to announce that he wasn't going to let inaccurate stories about his gambling habits planted by "people who were trying to take me out" drive him from public life.

"I'm back and I will be more outspoken than ever," Bennett told nationally syndicated radio host Sean Hannity, after accepting full responsibility for the betting brouhaha.

6. I am thankful for the revelations of his gambling because frankly ..
it pleased me to no end to have his smug face GONE from the boob tube for a while. But these bastards have no shame. He'll lay low for a while and then re-emerge as the same old scold and this won't even be brought up by the press because they, too, have feet of clay and don't want their own business put out in front of everyone.

7. Are you high?
That's not how conservatives work.

In six months, Bill Bennett will have announced that he has "a new covenant with the Lord" and he'll be pulling down $20,000 a night on the Trusting Christian Soul trail. For a sum that would buy you a fairly decent new car, Bennett will regale you with tales of his travels to the Depths of Despair. To the Shoals of Deceit and the Agony of Knowing His Children Won't Have New Shoes This Year Because He Just Fed the Milk Money to a One-Armed Bandit.

Bennett hasn't lost his job. He'll be more popular than ever.

...all they are about is making or stealing money and then simply lie and point fingers at everyone else that they absolutely hate, those who try and stop or expose their corruption and exploiting...Democrats, women, gays, minorities, environmentalist, unions and regulatory agencies.

They want it all for themselves, they believe they are owed it from god and fuck everyone else who's not their kind.

10. A noxious vapor of hypocrisy rising from the slag heap of moral fraud
I don't hate anyone, really, but let's just say that the event horizon between me ever hating anyone and Mr. Bennett is essentially zero.

God, what filth!

11. He should sign up for a job training program
to re-train for a new line of work, the way the rest of us are being advised to do by this administration, now that all those jobs are going overseas.
