4. Cheney should be main target.
He needs to be neutralized politically--exposed as the Nixonian creep he is. It would be potentially effective in causing problems for their ticket. Choosing a stand-in would be problematic as their main showcase names are pro-choice and therefore unacceptable to the fundies.

19. Hi Mari...
I understand your feelings. They are completely valid. I'm so emotionally burned out by all the crap I've read and heard from the lips, and from his cohorts, of this SOCK PUPPET bum Bush; I can hardly sit up. :hangover:

I was watching him in front of a coast guard vessel (ahem not exactly an aircraft carrier someone said on CNN lol). He was standing STOCK STILL as he blabbed about whatever. Not the usual swagger this time. I think he is peeing down his leg cause HE KNOWShe is a "loser".

Then, again, I'm a WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE bit upset with some of the bobblehead Dems who continue to backpeddle their involvement in this Iraqi invasion. Their dirty faces are appearing on cable news and broadcast news here and there...it's shocking.

BTW: I contacted the MFSO org. they are sending me info on marches and protest events.

everything they could to screw over the families of the victims and prevent them from finding answers to their questions. How evil is it to victimize those people? I am starting to wonder if justice is dead in this country. They are truly depraved people. I agree. The hypocricy is just mind-boggling.

12. If the mainstream media people have any consciences at all, they will
quit supporting the continuing war propaganda. They know they cheerleaded the war and they know now it was wrong.

Unfortunately, human behavior shows that people will more often bury a guilty conscience under denial and be even MORE blatant and wrong-headed about their bad behavior than to act courageously and reverse themselves and right the wrong they did.

18. Someone on DU slammed me
for saying that only the wealthy could wage class warfare. They pointed out that my Avatar would disagree. Well, my avatar lived in a different world where the media was FREE and did their DUTY as jounalists! Ghandi could never have succeeded had the media not shamed the British with the truth, because the media gave him an international VOICE that was heard not only by his countrymen, but by those in Britain and the world as well.

This era has no Ghandi, because our media only allows one voice to speak. Jefferson was right; without a free press, there can be no democracy. We must DEMAND that our media show those coffins and honor the dead. We must DEMAND that media attention is paid to truly meaningful stories, and not to mindless diversions like Janet Jackson's breast! Write, call, hound them until they begin to hear us. What they fear most is loss of revenue. Let them know that that is exactly what will happen if they can't find a way to be "fair" and "balanced"!

7. HE lies !!!!
Check this out!!!today he said

America and our friends have shown the world that we are serious about removing the threats of weapons of mass destruction. And the facts are becoming clearer. In Iraq, our survey group is on the ground, looking for the truth. We will compare what the intelligence indicated before the war with what we have learned afterwards. As the chief weapons inspector said, we have not yet found the stockpiles of weapons that we thought were there. Yet, the Survey Group has uncovered some of what the dictator was up to.

We know Saddam Hussein had the capability to produce weapons of mass destruction. He had the scientists and technology in place to make those weapons. We know he had the necessary infrastructure to produce weapons of mass destruction because we found the labs and dual use facilities that could be used to produce chemical and biological weapons. We know he was developing the delivery systems, ballistic missiles that the United Nations had prohibited. We know Saddam Hussein had the intent to arm his regime with weapons of mass destruction, because he hid all those activities from the world until the last day of his regime.

And Saddam Hussein had something else -- he had a record of using weapons of mass destruction against his enemies and against innocent Iraqi citizens. Knowing what I knew then, and knowing what I know today, America did the right thing in Iraq. (Applause.)

11. Mari, The Spin Is Thick
This morning on WJ, one of those southern-accented GOOP ladies called in (fortunately not the one who had her kids ape "I Love *"), saying how great it was that bunnypants was visiting military hospitals (supposedly without any media coverage...Yeah, right, Mr. Butterball) and calls the families of those killed (not from the Military websites I'm reading about...and you know that would also be another PR event).

The regime knows it's on the verge of losing the military and Rove's trying to stop the bleeding in his own ranks. This "pump up the base" offensive isn't an attempt to steal the headlines as much as to find their place in them...the first sign events are starting to dictate Rove and not the other way around.

He can't go anywhere, except to tightly controlled fundraisers, filled with hand-picked audience members, and tightly controlled military settings. We all saw what happened when he invited himself to Martin Luther King's grave, and y'all probably remember the best single line in the SOTU - his applause-producing mention of the expiration of the PATRIOT Act.

He can't say anything, except to repeat the same lies and stammering, stuttering bullshit he mouths everywhere he goes: lies about Iraq, lies about WMD, lies about the economy, lies about the budget, lies about gays, lies about jobs, lies about space travel, lies about the intelligence services, lies about science, lies about immigration, lies about 9/11, lies about his "faith", lies about "family values", lies about job training, lies about the environment.

No one's buying any more of his lies. We've had enough. Bush now finds himself in the position of someone trying to sell seawater to sailors.

He can't do anything, except cut taxes and spend more and more money, as he flails for something, anything he can do that won't look like the blatantly political handjob that it is. And the harder he tries, the more shallow, phony and blatantly political he looks.

Small wonder he slumps and smirks and glares and sputters with steadily increasing frequency - there's nowhere left to turn, and nothing left to do - except try and lie some more, and hope that somehow, it will all be forgotten

If Rove & Company really believe that some sort of "charm offensive" - and never was the cliche more appropriate - is going to pull Chimpy's butt out of the fire at this point, they have got a few more screws loose than I thought, and I didn't think they were put together too tightly to begin with.

16. What an excellent post
Alas, the country is held hostage to Bush's reelection desires. He's like the little boy on the Twilight Zone who could wish anything true. He's the most powerful brat in the world, capable of doing almost anything to anybody, and what he wants now is to have more power. Else he'll wish us all away.

"he slumps and smirks and glares and sputters with steadily increasing frequency"

AWOL has been socialized to swagger and pretend confidence
by appearing aggressive and self assured. Not having to ever
suffer his own failures he relies totally on the direction
and support of handlers. I look forward to Kerry calling
him out into the public arena without scripted and edited
words. He will fail any spontaneous communication....the more
his handlers put him out there in public the more likely he
is to fail by showing his true character.

22. Ok, wild optimism here....
... I think this is NOT GOING TO WORK. When you have a basically good opinion of a leader, hearing him speak bolsters that feeling.

When you are skeptical or dislike a leader, the same speech may very well only reinforce your negative opinion.

Bush* is not a good speaker, he is not inspiring and he has nothing to say because all he can do is repeat one of the 20 or so scripted lines that his handlers have taught him.

I say "bring it on". :)

23. Good rant Mari...
Be sure to watch bush on Meet the Press on Sun. This should be interesting. I'm willing to bet he will botch a "boxers or briefs" question.

Until then, I share your rage. I despise this man and his administration with all of my heart and soul. I find NO redeeming qualities in any of this cabal of cretins. I find myself tearing up more and more, as the patriots on DU find and post pic's of those returning in flag draped coffins. Trumad posted one that caught me off guard, and sent me on an emotional roller-coaster ride. The memories came flooding back, and it was damn near impossible to staunch the flow; a flood of emotions rolled over me.

This admin is history, and they know it. Unfortunately, like drowning man, they will clutch at anything, and drag it down with them; this includes the entire nation. This admin will not give up their power without an awful lot of kicking and screaming.

Just this past week, Nebraska lost another soldier from a small town.
This is happening all over the nation, every day. People are distraught and want to extract our troops from Iraq. I believe that we will get a new administration in '04, which will be sworn in Jan '05. We will begin to extract our people soon after that.

We must continue to oppose this administration and it's hellish policies at every level. Solidarity is the key to our victory.

Watch them stumble on...each step they take, marches them closer to the dustbin of history.

25. I knew this year would be hard
and now harder, with my own family member being sent to Iraq as a reservist this month..
But the straw that breaks the camels back is when the *bUsh admin USES their deaths and wounding to his own personal gain right on TV, when we all know that same admin are the ones who forced this war in the first place based on lies and more lies.
The shallow words ring hollow as he speaks the lines he is forced to speak, and we all know FULL well none of them care about the kids in Iraq anymore then they care about the dead and wounded anymore then they care about the 9/11 victims ..these are all just peoples deaths they can use to further their insane agenda
In the meantime, they care about their own power..and will use OUR kids deaths to gain political points.
They desecrate the graves of the soldiers with their lies.
They desecrate us all with their lies.

will go down in flames.

This election will not even be close, this is going to be a crushing blow for the GOP for years to coem. This admin id the worst the nation has ever seen, and the massive amount of casualties is goint ot tip the scales even further.

At this moment, bush is speaking about finally appointing a commission to investigate the WMD fiasco...he looks like he just crapped his pants, ans his words are so forced, I'm surprised he can even talk.

30. Really why not
why not ask the networks for tv time, appear in the oval office. Tell us all the good things that has happened in the US since they took over. Tell us of the record surplus his tax cuts has created because everyone is working. Tell us of the record number of Americans going to college, the record numbers of first time home owners.
Why doesn't he tell us about the evil saddam, and all the wmds removed from the evil one's power.
Tell us how he made the entire world safe for everyone.
He won't because he can't, he won't say a word about the 529 dead, or thousands of wounded. He won't tell us of all the uninsured, the record number of bankruptcies, how his rich piggie friends have looted the treasury.
This misadministration couldn't change a flat tire.
