this might sound harsh
Edited on Sun Feb-15-04 08:09 AM by historian
but i truly believe that if all the thousands of soldiers who have been maimed, paralyzed or otherwise ruined by the thug bush were to parade down the washington mall it would certainly cause a sensation.
I dont think that even thick head bush would do anything to stop them.
Anyone heard if such a demonstration is in the works?

1. Let's hope not.
Your idea is truly sick. Please reconsider it. Your self righteousness is appalling and unwelcome with me. Here's a dollar,go buy some shame.

To gain from the misery of others is sick. If disabled soldiers wish to march,it will be their decision.

7. Who said it wouldn't be their decision?
Edited on Sun Feb-15-04 10:19 AM by RapidCreek
You believe that a man who has been maimed in a war, parading down the street is sick? The people who stand to gain are the soldiers that haven't been maimed or killed yet. How the hell is that sick?

The fuckers who are gaining from the misery of others are the fascist pricks in the White House and their sponsors. They'll continue to gain from it as long as it remains hidden.

18. Why do you have a problem
with the maimed and the disabled marching in public?

Hmmm...

20. How is Historian gaining from the misery of others?
I didn't see anywhere in his post that he advocated kidnapping them and parading them down the mall with a gun to their heads.

Sounded to me like it would be their decision.

3. Why is this idea sick, and why is the poster self-righteous?
These soldiers are human beings too. Bush has profoundly affected their lives, and the lives of their loved ones, in very unfortunate and permanent ways. They SHOULD get in his face about what he's done.

Remember when Michael Moore took the two kids injured at Columbine to K-mart to "return" the bullets in their bodies? K-mart agreed to take bullets off the shelves the next day!

I see nothing wrong with this idea at all. The Republican myth is that actions have no consequences if they don't have to see them. Well, they need to see them.

5. I agree with you Enraged_Ape.
More people in this country need to see the results of war, up close and personal.

6. I am so glad...
that you should decide what the permanently wounded should do. I did not waste time with the fat blowhard's movie.

If the wounded want to "get in his face" it will be their decision. Not yours. Off the cross,we need the wood.

Edited on Sun Feb-15-04 10:54 AM by Enraged_Ape
I find it difficult to discuss or argue anything with someone who speaks entirely in non sequiturs and bizarre metaphors. "Off the cross?" WTF?

19. If i'm reading it correctly
I think the intention there (apart from the open intent to offend) was to imply that the poster is acting like Jesus. I'd take this guy's sneering with a truckload of salt if I were you. :)

9. The bush* administration works...
VERY HARD to keep these heroes in the shadows. I think organizing a parade to honor their courage and patriotism is VERY appropriate.

12. Very, Very Kewel!
I'm sure our local station will cover the Ft Bragg event. They've been very good about staying in touch with local families throughout deployment.

I can't believe I'm seeing yet another person, who is ashamed for the wounded and no longer physically perfect to stand up and be counted.

You need to take a good long look at your attitudes toward the disabled and the different.

14. The Bonus Marchers, world war one veterans
in (1932) marched on Washington. MacArthur and his soldiers drove them out of Washington. On MacArthur's staff was a young officer, Eisenhower who disagreed with MacArthur.

On the side of the bonus marchers was General Smedley Butler.

Could history repeat itself?

Or google Bonus marchers macarthur.

13. This happened once a long time ago 1932 to be exact
http://members.aol.com/vetsofamer/bonus2.htm

It will happen again mark my words. Your idea isn't sick it actually makes sense since the press is ignoring what is going on and not reporting actual casualties.
