Another good one from Boortz today.
A guy called today and said that 90% of the people in Spain were opposed to the war in Iraq and that is why the party in charge was thrown out.
Boortz said this " OK then you believe in mob rule. We are a country of laws and not governed by mob rule."
Did he just say that because Spain voted and threw out the right wing wacko`s that it was a mob vote? Is he then saying that when we throw Bush out that it was mob rule? These people are scared to death of Kerry taking away they tax cuts for the rich. Boortz being a millionaire and all.

2. How do you stand to listen to that ratwing fascist tripe?
I can't watch or listen to those brownshirts. They make me so angry....and sick. I can't stomach the thought of that kind of trash being able to fill the airwaves with their venom and bile. The best thing that could happen in this country is for those anti-American freaks to be taken off the air.I hope I live long enough to see it happen.

4. I don't know how you do it
I can't listen to RW radio. It's just too stressful.

I listen to either music or Books on Tape (Audible.com and say janefish sent you ) :)

Life is much better without know-nuthin radio!

3. "... We are a country of laws and not governed by mob rule."
Catch what he said here.

With the patriot act protest has become illegal and * can probably cancel the elections if he so chooses.

Boortz seems to have the inside track and he just spilled the beans.

7. Libertarian, my ass.
I hate this wave of radio "libertarians" who are really just repugnants except they cater towards misogynistic suburbanites rather than religious fundies.

I wonder what this clown thinks of Ron Paul or Harry Browne.

5. "mob rule" usually refers to cases....
Edited on Tue Mar-16-04 04:23 PM by enki23
where certain basic rights of some minority or minorities are actively infringed upon by the majority. like, for example, pushing for an anti-gay marriage amendment. it's not customary in most non-totalitarian states, so far as i know, to grant anyone the *right* to hold executive office. (bush v. gore notwithstanding of course, and the supreme court saw fit to let us all know this sort of 'right to be president' ruling was a one time event.)

anyway, "mob rule" applied to elections is what we usually refer to as "democracy." boortz might prefer calling it "the basic function of a representative republic."

but then, neil boortz is a foolish little man. it's not much worth actually analyzing what he says. he obviously doesn't.

9. Bush has every right to be President.
He was appointed by our Lord Jesus Christ. He's a Christian man who believes what he's doing!!!

says the right.

8. For a guy who claims to be a political commentator
Neal sure could use a civics class.

A guy called today and said that 90% of the people in Spain were opposed to the war in Iraq and that is why the party in charge was thrown out. Boortz said this " OK then you believe in mob rule. We are a country of laws and not governed by mob rule."

Elected governments derive their authority from the consent of the governed. If the government takes action that is against the will of 90% of the people, the consent of the governed is gone, and consequently, the governed will exercise the mechanism at their disposal for removing the offending government: elections.

For rich patricans like Boortz, only those with wealth should have a say in government, and elections are tantamount to "mob rule."

12. Neil Boortz is a cold blooded bastard..
My Uncle Bill worked in Atlanta Radio in the 1970's. He knew Neil Boortz fairly well and considered him a friend. At one point Neil was about to get married to wife #2 or #3 and had no money for his honeymoon. My Uncle helped him out with a loan of a couple of grand. My Uncle never asked for the money back and Neil never offered.
A few years later my uncle lost his job and was having a rough time of it. He stopped by to see his "old buddy". In probably what was the lowest point of his life he asked Neil for some help. Neil hemmed and hawed. My Uncle excused himself and went on. He never mentioned the loan.
Neil was broke from a nasty divorce when he borrowed the money, he was a millionaire when he put my Uncle off. I think that tells you everything about him as a person. You will note I didn't say man, because that would be a lie.
Just a crummy human being.
