Howard Stern debates a Irrational Jingoistic. - mp3
http://www.indybay.org/uploads/stern_1_.mp3

"Of course the people don't want war... That is understood.
But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine
the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people
along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a
parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice,
the people can always be brought to the bidding of the
leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are
being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of
patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country."

-- Hermann Goering, Adolf Hitler's Deputy Chief and Luftwaffe Commander, at the Nuremberg trials--

I've never liked Howard Stern, but damn, he's been impressive recently.
As you can see by my sig line, he and I seem to be on the same page on this one.

5. Damn, did he tear her apart!
And not by calling her a bitch or whatever. But by pretty effective argument. I didn't realize this guy had the brains he had.

Stern is crass and sometimes offensive, but he's no dummy. And having him say this stuff is great!

"Get off my phone."

I'm not a talk radio person and the most I've been exposed to Howard Stern is from watching the movie "Private Parts." Occasionally, a sound byte or some fluff will trickle down to my attention. Most recently, it was his banishment from Clear Cannel.

I think this is a great turning point for Mr. Stern. It's more provocative than lesbian sex and dwarf tossing and much more realistic and pragmatic. Good for him.

Hope that this isn't too cynical, but like Cher and cockroaches, he's a survivor. I happen to support his current incarnation. Is there such a thing as a “Radio Free Red-State” network to carry his message?

10. Do you think Stern's auditioning for a show on the liberal radio network?
maybe getting political is a career move too?

... by terrorists."

Stern's mocking of this woman's argument.

Classic!!

Robin: "We've informed the President, he's chopping wood..."
Stern: "If you don't think the war in Iraq is dangerous and isn't turning into another Vietnam, you're crazy. None of these people had a plan. Nobody had a clue."

My favorite part:

Stern: "Through thick and thin, through all of the horrors I'm telling you about, this guy is consumed with getting me off the radio... I mean, you gotta laugh at this administration. My eyes are open."

17. Howard at his finest
Edited on Wed Mar-17-04 03:33 AM by devilgrrl
It's moments like that that make me keep listening to the show - and it doesn't even have to be about Bush either. When he goes off on some over-exposed celebrity or when he has good guests (faves include Richard Belzer and Kathy Griffin, that guy that does Gene Simmons, etc...), he can be an absolute scream to the point of literally rolling on the floor.

The best time to listen - for people who hate him - is when Robin does the news (around 9:00 usually), my favorite part of the show.

19. Awesome!
Stern really takes this caller to the woodshed and the fact that is his so factually correct and articulate will hopefully begin persuading his block of listeners as to what is the better course for this country come election time.

20. Howard Stern is a narcissistic media whore asshol@#

ItÕs all about him and his $$$$, he doesnÕt really care about the issues.

Where was he pre Janet Jackson?

HeÕs changed his tune only after the FCC has come after him.

F%$# Howard and Tom Likus for not using their intelligence for good.

F%$# all the comedians that portrayed Dean as a conspiracy wacko, or made fun of DK appearance instead of focusing on his message.

I have little sympathy now that the Bushistas are coming after them.

I hope PowellÕs son fines them all to bankruptcy.

Maybe next time theyÕll stop being such tools.

IÕm vengeful like that.

Howard is the opposite of narcissistic. How many people would talk about how ugly they were and what a small penis they had all the time.

23. We can use all the help we can get!
AMERICA can use all the help IT can get aginst the Bushevik Occupying Force.

There comes a time when motivations are no longer an issue, when one is either "with us" or "against us" and motivations no longer matter.

How ironic the very words which Bush applies to al-Qaeda are most applicable to his own Tyrannical Imperial Self.

For myself, I care FAR MORE about restoring the Old American Republic than whether or not Stern is "morally pure" enough to suit my or your tastes.

Screw that. I apologize for being so harsh with you but GROW UP!

We're not playing for tiddly-winks here but for the future of Demoractic Self-Rule in a Republic.

I must confess to being out of patience with pie-in-the-sky types who insist on a "talior-made fit" in an "off-the-rack" world.

Sorry, but I gotta call it like I see it.

27. I understand the stakes Tom and É

IÕm glad heÕs speaking out against the Bushevik Occupying Force but
I wonÕt sing praises to him now that he finds BushÕs polices inconvenient.

He has been very uncritical and soft on BushÕs polices up until now.

Sorry, but IÕm just calling it like how * I * see it.

Too little too late, too bad so sad heÕs feeling persecuted.

Btw, he has said that he has felt hounded by the FCC when Democrats were in power also.

As long as he has his show and he is left alone, he doesnÕt give a crap what party
is in office.

That said, are his fans leaving him or loving the things he is saying?
