Anyone see CNBC/Lisa Meyers with the Osama tapes and the Clinton
Edited on Wed Mar-17-04 01:07 AM by Gloria
rehash? Complete with James Woolsey?

I tuned in and they were showing b & w tapes from the Clinton era showing groups in some sort of training, and a tall figure walking around whom they said was Osama. These were real time pictures and they matched them up with other surveillance pictures.

They had Kerrey on saying that the Clinton Admin. efforts were based on the philosophy of law enforcement....get terrorists and prosecute. Some snide ex-military guy said the missiles should have been used, or Special Forces.

The anchor pointed out that missiles had been used.

Woolsey said that early on when he was there, there had been delays because of having to tell Pakistan that we would have to use air space etc. He said that legally they couldn't do things that could be done now because of the Patriot Act. He said it wasn't clear at the beginning how big a threat AQ was but by 97-98 they had really stepped up operations and had a unit just for AQ. The set up piece also mentioned that Clinton had been weakened by ....you know what. Woolsey said he didn't know if anything had been signed off on.

Overall, it was one of those pieces that seems to be straightforward, but it left me with the feeling that the merits of criminial prosecution (such as getting more info) were never fully explored, so that one was left with the impression (probably deliberate) that Clinton was the one who bungled things before 911!

You know how it is....

1. This is just utter BS
People need to think logically...

If Clinton had all the info necessary to take out bin Laden, and was supposed to do it within his last two months in office,

WHY THE FUCK DIDN'T BUSH DO A GOD DAMNED THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. Typical GOP-BS
Clinton was attacked mercilessly from 1996 onward for being overly concerned with terrorism. He was accused of trying to scare people into supporting him. He was accused of "wagging the dog" to distract attention from the Impeachment Follies.

The Republicans were furious and made some lame remarks about "laws, not men." Radical leftists repeately accused Clinton of personally starving all the children in Iraq. And George Bush referred to the attack on OBL as shooting a camel in the ass with a missile.

Yadda yadda yadda.

The first thing he did after turning the keys over to the Idiot Bastard Son was to warn him about Osama bin Laden. Bush flipped him off.

The terrorism report that Al Gore, Warren Rudman and Gary Hart authored? It was fed to the waste-disposal system.

Funding for anti-terrorism studies by military scientists was yanked. Since George Tenet was a Clinton appointee, he was kept on a short leash.

In late July 2001, Our Wise and Courageous Leader took a vacation that was due to last 40 days (just like Our Lord's).

Then September 11, 2001 happened.

If the neo-cons are serious about keeping America secure, they could start by pulling their heads out of their own asses.

It ended with a tease for the next installment focusing on *. If part one is any indication of who butters their bread, part two will be cheese toast with the focus on * cheese.

I know I'm not any safer with the chimp in charge. I know that it's worse. The great "uniter" extended an invitation for the terrorists to "bring it on" and he isn't doing shit to stop them.

Oh yeah, that patriot act thing is not about terrorists, it's about the suppression of any domestic opposition to the emperor. And we invaded Iraq to depose their former government with their former government with the false label of democracy.

We need regime change here and real regime change there.

6. NBC blames Bill? Guess who gave NBC gov. survellance tape
NBC "obtained" film taken by government spyplane...plans 3 day series that at least in this promo/news spot teases with the idea that 911 is Clinton's fault.

By Lisa Myers
Senior investigative correspondent
NBC News

Updated: 7:01 p.m. ET March 16, 2004As the 9/11 commission investigates what Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush might have done to prevent the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, one piece of evidence the commission will examine is a videotape secretly recorded by a CIA plane high above Afghanistan. The tape shows a man believed to Osama bin Laden walking at a known al-Qaida camp.

<snip>

In 1993, the first World Trade Center bombing killed six people.

In 1998, the bombing of two U.S. embassies in Africa killed 224.

Both were the work of al-Qaida and bin Laden, who in 1998 declared holy war on America, making him arguably the most wanted man in the world.

In 1998, President Clinton announced, “We will use all the means at our disposal to bring those responsible to justice, no matter what or how long it takes.”

<snip>

NBC News has obtained, exclusively, extraordinary secret video, shot by the U.S. government. It illustrates an enormous opportunity the Clinton administration had to kill or capture bin Laden. Critics call it a missed opportunity.

20. MSNBC cleverly ignores the missles ready for OBL.
Bush made fun of candidate Clinton for trying to hit an empty tent in the desert, that was: trying to hit OBL, kill OBL.

"The tape proves the Clinton administration was aggressively tracking al-Qaida a year before 9/11. ... why was no action taken ... "ACTION WAS TAKEN, I.E. KILL OBL!

"should have had strike forces prepared," said retired Gen. Wayne Downing THEY WERE ORDERED, WHY WEREN'T THEY PREPARED?

Bob Kerry(sic), a former senator and current 9/11 commission member, said "Clinton ... could have ... ask(ed) ... to declare war on al-Qaida."
CLINTON TRIED, REPUBLICAN CONGRESS SLOWED CLINTON'S ANTI-TERRORISM INITIATIVES.

Notice that Bob Kerrey is spelled the same as John Kerry.

I think they are being very clever.

7. Let us not forget..
The Bush administration called off these drones that were tracking and filming Bin Laden and vetoed millions of dollars to fight terrorism pre 9-11.

You can either blame EVERYONE for 9-11 or NO ONE.

16. Poppy Bush should have dealt with OBL when he was in office...
...after all, OBL and the resultant Al Qaeda were originally creatures of the CIA. Poppy should have followed-up by either ensuring that the promises made to OBL were kept, or had the man eliminated.

I wonder why Poppy did nothing? Could it have been the Bush-Bin Laden family relationship that stopped Poppy from acting? Or did Poppy see some future use for OBL and Al Qaeda?
