Showing their true colors . . .
I heard a 20-something repug state recently: This country should totally commit to taking over the Mid-East and grabbing all the oil to prevent any other country from getting it. And to do this, the draft should be re-instated BEFORE 2005.

When he was asked, if this is such a good idea, why didn't he quit his lucrative job at BMW and enlist as a volunteer, as a sign of patriotism.

Because, he responded, ONLY THE "POOR" should be drafted. People like him are too important to expend in warfare. And there are too many "poor" out there and they should be eliminated.

There you are. The PNAC's perfect plan to take over world markets of oil, dominate other countries, and rid this country of an unnecessary demographic.

This makes me sick.

THAT is disturbing. It'd be downright comical if we knew he was kidding....but we know he wasn't. Brainwashed idiot.

2. why am I not surprised.
I read an article about young Republicans in the Wash Post a few months ago and they were just as bad... selfish to the point of being evil.

3. Next time you see him
shoot him in the face with a rubber band. When he freaks out, just say "yeah, now I see why you don't want to join the army, coward". That should piss him off enough.

Imagine if the repuke leadership were this honest. They'd forever be a minority party if they continued to exist at all.

thoroughly brainwashed...and it just amazes me that people have such nonexistant consciences that they think it's just ducky to say such things...

11. That's a very plainspoken summary of current policy and a very good

illustration of the old adage that it's not what you say so much as how you say it.

The policy enjoys wide bipartisan support among the voting class, but language and presentation is important.

13. I don't believe that
I think that if Bush were to suggest the draft today, most Americans would tell him to get fucked.

18. bush is not good at putting things in a nice way

Admittedly, even he does better than the original poster's friend, but he does not have the skills and abilities necessary to make horrific things sound palatable.

You might not like the idea of a draft, but if it were presented as a call for every American to serve in one capacity or another, with military service of course being the highest form, that defends America at the same time that it empowers those who have been left out of the American dream to live up to their potential...

21. If Bush got his speach writers all worked up
and got them to give him some flowery sounding speach about serving your country and made a call for all Americans to serve in some capacity, it would just go by the wayside as just some speach; aside from maybe a few idealistic young people who were touched by it and decided to enlist.

I'm not sure how the draft works (I was still in diapers the last time we had one), but doesn't there have to be some act by Congress to get it going? I don't think that would ever happen.

25. because bush is not very charismatic, not telegenic, and he's not very

inspiring. Such a speech would be wasted on bush. He doesn't have the oratory talent nor the charm to deliver it.

You might want to check out HR-163

"And there are too many "poor" out there and they should be eliminated." What makes this little shit head think he is not expendable? Just because he thinks he has an "important" job? He is lucky I am not his Momma! :spank: What a little chicken shit chicken hawk. Typical self-serving, self-important repug attitude.

26. Oh just give him some time
He's probably making a decent salary right now and has a little money in the stock market and he thinks he's in the winners' circle. I've seen this happen so many times.

Wait until his job gets outsourced and his unemployment and investments are gone, he'll be crying like the little wuss he so obviously is about the unfairness of it all and asking what the gov't is going to do to help him. :nopity:
