Bush vs Clinton and the Strategic Petroleum Reserve
The Strategic Petroleum Reserve is being discussed after it was announced that Bush intends to keep filling the SPR even though its nearing capacity. Gasoline prices are at record highs with no relief in sight. Oil prices continue to climb even higher than they normally would as we fill this reserve because of the reduced available supply.

Contrast this bought and paid for by big oil attitude of the Bush "administration" to that of Clinton who actually released 30 million barrels of oil from the SPR in September 2000 in an attempt to lower energy prices for the coming winter. Clinton described it in a CNN interview:

"WILLIAM J. CLINTON, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: The overriding purpose for our action is to increase supply and help consumers make it through the cold winter. Families shouldn't have to drain their wallets to drive their cars or heat their homes."

Of course, once again, Clinton was vilified by the GOP for this as playing politics to try and help Gore's presidential campaign.

If ever there were a glaring example of who really gives a damn about the American people, this is it.

1. My mom always says...
...Republicans are for rich people and corporations, and Democrats care more about the little guy and small business.

This is illustrated quite well with your example.

It's also golf weather. We need to hit the links. :-)
