What is the Projected Stats of Dem Warchest for this Election??
During the primaries where, obviously, all our candidates were using their warchest money to get the nomination, I saw a report on (I believe) CNN Headline News (you know the straight up version without the frills) and it was very uplifting. They projected (as predicted) that Bush would have like $200 million; but they went through unions, etc. that would be coming through for the Dem candidate and said it was expected we would raise like $150 or so million ourselves. Now I see from reports here that the DNC has $25 million and we are raising as we speak that $10 million in 10 days drive. That brings the pot to 35 million---and that's a hell of a way short of $150 million. There's a lot yet to go in fundraising, I realize. But, I would like to know if anyone has a) stats on how much Gore raised--surely we will do that and quite a bit more with the mood Dems are in; and b) do you have any info on what is projected once the big entities step forward. I'm dying to know.

1. I think Kerry plans to raise
$100 million for the campaign so that is about one half of what Bush has raised. I think both have spent similar amounts. I don't know about the party or the 527s. Dems are drastically outfunded but not so much that it's time to panic. Dems are always less funded.

2. cally--I know we always have less as Gore had less then Bush in 2000
but I wonder where CNN got like only the 50 million gap. Could it be that Kerry himself will raise $100 million but the party which has 25 million now will raise maybe another 25 million. We have to take into consideration groups like MoveOn who cannot mention Kerry by name but are airing attacks on Bush. I know in this area we are stronger than repukes--which is surprising. Hell, what does it take for his billionaire friends to come up with a group in like 5 days!! Anyway, their contribution has to be added in--but I don't think that was added into the money reported in the peice on CNN.
