How do I convince a wingnut Faux news is not news?
I have a freind who watches Faux. I try to warn him he will be laughed at by anyone but the dumbest rednecks if he uses them as his news source.

What should I send him to prove Fox is not a legit source?

1. There's nothing you can say.
Don't waste your time with these tweakers.

2. Beat some sense into them
I suggest taking a 2x4 and repeatedly wacking them in the forehead yelling "It's not news, dammit" until they start repeating it.

3. It may be hopeless.
On another board tonight a friend said that he regularly listens to Rush and Hannity in order to get a more "balanced" view of things, since he already has liberal friends and gets "plenty" of that point of view already. He also stated that he thinks that most of the TV news sources, including Fox, are biased "toward the left."

He said that he thinks Rush is funny and entertaining. I thought this person was a Democrat. Now I realize that he is simply a moran.

Unfortunately, I guess this is the sort of "swing" voter we're supposed to suck up to this fall, so that they will grudgingly vote for Kerry.

I can't do it. I'll send money and put up signs, but I can't suck up to morans.

In many ways I am angrier with them than I am with neo-cons. At least the neo-cons HAVE an agenda.

6. Haha, that's like John Goodman's line
In the Big Lewbowski!

"Say what you want about the National Socialist Party, Dude, at least it's an ethos."

Comparing the Nazi's to nihilists who care about nothing.

5. To paraphrase Louis Armstrong:

"If he has to ask, he'll never know."

But, if you really want to bang your head against that particular wall, I'd stick with direct sources (transcripts, etc) and investigative reports, as well as media critiques that point out -- chapter and verse -- exactly how Fox distorts the news to suit Republican interests. Stick to hard facts, avoid conjecture, and hammer away.

Listen, sometimes you gotta let them hit rock bottom, ya know? Try introducing your friend to books, i find reading is often a good way to open up one's mind. And tell your friend the more they watch Faux the worse they will do at trivial pursuit.

9. Yeah, this is particularly egregious...
Even worse than usual, but only because it is so blatant.

11. Try FAIR.org info on FOX, then quit.
Here's a link to the FAIR News Corp/FOX archive.
http://www.fair.org/media-outlets/newscorp-fox.html

Fill his mailbox with it. If he trys to claim FAIR is biased, not FOX, vent him out the closest airlock.
