Political Email Etiquette..
OK my pops just asked me to send an email to a group of people. I don't know who they are. Way back-n-the-day the Draft Wes Clark campaign asked us to put a note in our email siggy saying to support General Clark. When he became a Candidate I changed it to Democrats Unite, General Wesley K. Clark for President with his site addy.

After he dropped out I changed it to I'm a Wes Clark Democrat with his site addy.

Now my dad calls me all excited. Did you send that email out with that on the bottom to all the people. I was like, yeah, It is my siggy. It goes out on all my emails. Then he acted all pissed and said that he didn't know who his audience is or was.

Funny thing is I never even thought about what my siggy says after I saved it. It never occured to me that it would cause any problems.

Should I have removed my email siggy to send his email? (First of all I'm pretty sick of sending his emails.) Second, should I have to hide my political stance to send his emails? Third, my pops is old school you don't discuss religion and politics in mixed company. But, I'm tired of being in the closet. I'm tired of having to hide.

Should you remove political email siggys when sending to email to mixed groups?

1. Set up a free hotmail or yahoo account for him.

And keep on being true to yourself (and that includes your email sig)!

And get another, more outrageously anti-Bush, sig.

2. I'll chime in on the whole political e-mails part
But I'll refrain from comment on that part about you sending mail for your dad.

For a time early last year, I included political quotes as my sig on both personal and work e-mails (I would remove them for mail to customers). After I saw a message from a co-worker with his RW quotes, I took them out of my work e-mail.

Later, I switched my sig on my personal e-mail to an endorsement for Howard Dean. After a few weeks, I finally decided that I was not happy sending that out to all of my friends, as many of them are RW Bush supporters. Knowing that I get offended when one of them sends me anti-Clinton and bogus pro-Bush mail, I figured I had better get rid of my sig if I was going to complain about her messages. So I took that sig off.

Now I use only a professional sig at work, and none at all for my personal mail. Put yourself in the place of your recipients. What if they're RW? What if they sent you mail with a pro-Bush sig? Would you be offended? If so, or if you think they might be by your sig, take it off.

4. That's a good way of looking at it.
I'm considering removing it. Though, Pro Bush or RW stuff doesn't offend me. IT is their behavior that offends me.

5. Oh, BTW, my pops is a Retired Executive, who still thinks that
the WORLD---UNIVERSE still owes him a secretary.

I think little problems like this will really encourage him to get his shit together.

6. What about my new personal email siggy...
I can't put the siggy I want here because I'm a political hostage to the American culture.
