(After Unity Dinner)---Exactly What is Going to be Our 2004 Message?!?!?
This is what I gleaned from pieces of speeches and, it frankly, worries me. We are going to run on jobs, economy, healthcare, education, etc. Our "tone" is to be upbeat, promising, uplifting. (note: Kerry did say something about answering their charges--don't know if that means forcefully or with job/economy, etc. talk). Wellll.....

There's a political science fundamental that says: If an incumbent is running for re-election in a presidential election and is voted out, the people DID NOT vote FOR the opponent (and his visions, promises, ideas) BUT voted AGAINST the incumbent (as in had it up to their butt with the bastard). Thus, please don't tell me we are not going to use three years worth of examples we can sling right into this crime syndicate's teeth!! Please tell me that we will alternate "nice ads" with "attack ads". Please tell me that the dodging in the last couple weeks of Dem talking heads about 9/11/Iraq etc. and morphing quickly to jobs, economy, etc. is not going to be our ploy until November. Please don't tell me that the party thought those attacks on Bush were great to get the primary voters all steamed up and now are going back to the same ineffective crap we have seen for 3 long years. Yes, there are attacks within the subjects of jobs, economy, etc. to be lobbed against Bush and we will (his stinking tax cuts, for example). But we need to destroy the only thing he can run on: his so-called integrity (barf) and brilliant strong leadership in the face of war (the one he created---double barf). Let the dogs out....and soon.

1. I share your concerns... and I love attack ads
So long as they stick to the issues, they always work.

3. Trajan--what does all Gore doing a "not so unified" thing at the
dinner have to do with us attacking Bush?? Or do you consider attacking (cutely) our own candidate somehow an okay substitute if we aren't going to attack Bush. We need to start with a bunch of smiling guys on a stage who are unified and don't remind the people that at one poing we weren't and then we have to get that whole damn posse out riding in the same direction. Al's still back in the barn, fiddling with the horse. I want attack ADS aimed at Bush; not little remarks aimed at our own candidate from within the party. There is a difference, you know.

4. Just study Bill Clinton's speech.
That was the most hard hitting political rhetoric I have ever heard. All the big red buttons were punched and locked down.

The way he set up the "bush as leader after 9/11" meme, and then shredded the admin for screwing up the world-wide unity that briefly existed was a masterpiece.

And, "Send Me!" is now a staple of the politcal vocabulary.

The product of political genius, delivered with Clinton's unsurpassed oratorical ability.

5. Sinis--one part of that Clinton speech that I want so desperately
put into ads (because the damn media won't cover it--Bush doing comedy is so much more important, you know) if the part where he told the crowd about what kind of enemy they face with these slime. Remember where he brought up about McCain's daughter, etc?? He so easily and quickly painted the picture of them that the rest of us have written volumes about and in words that every American can comprehend (those Rhodes scholars ain't no dummies, are they?). I think it vital (as much as any other attack we can mount) to inform the public just how these slime work. The stupid public has no clue.

Hell, the whole speech should be shown again and again and ...

Added: And what about his warnings about the bushite attempts to "define" our candidate as a "two-dimensional cartoon"?

Exactly What is Going to be Our 2004 Message?!?!?"

I guess you haven't heard or seen anything about "Bush*'s Credibility Gap", his being a "Stubborn Misleader", Bush*'s shortfunding of Homeland Security, or how his invasion of Iraq increased the threat of terrorism.

I find it incredible that someone would request that Kerry "Let the dogs out....and soon" at a time when Congress is airing criticisms of how Bush* handled terrorism both before and after 9/11.
