OK... We Need To Get On Jane Harman's Ass... NOW !!!

GOP lawmakers take on Clarke

Clarke’s book and the interviews he has given this week to promote it have enraged Republicans, which has launched a furious assault on his credibility. A variety of administration officials, from Vice President Dick Cheney on down, denounced him as a disgruntled political opportunist intent on salvaging his reputation and selling the book. The administration took the extraordinary step of issuing a long, point-by-point written rebuttal of the claims made in the book.

Key Republicans in Congress joined the campaign Friday, seeking to declassify testimony Clarke gave in July 2002 before a meeting of the the House and Senate intelligence committees. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., said the goal was to determine whether Clarke lied under oath, either then or this week.

Frist told reporters that he personally had no knowledge that there were any discrepancies between Clarke’s two appearances, but he said, “Until you have him under oath both times, you don’t know.”

A Republican aide told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity that the request came from House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., and Rep. Porter Goss, R-Ill, chairman of the House intelligence committee.

11. Exactly
If they can take the extraordinary step of declassifying Clarke's testimony, why can't we hear from Condi under oath?

And while we're at it, why can't we know who in the White House leaked Valerie Plame's name?

And why can't we know who Cheney talked with about energy policy?

And why can't we know who in the White House kept Medicare figures from us?

10. Hmmm...if you spoke to them twice,
Edited on Fri Mar-26-04 06:28 PM by NRK
once under oath, and once not...which time would you make darn sure to tell the truth? Maybe, just maybe, the time that carries the penalty of perjury?

Not saying there are discrepancies, but come on. Of course his sworn testimony is true. They're just upset because it makes Bush look bad.

Note that Frist has no knowledge of any discrepancies. That says a lot, since these guys are all on morning "fax blast" lists for their talking points. They got nuttin'. This is desperation and damage control.
