Preparing for The Next Pearl Harbor Attack
The other day, Octafish excerpted an article which, in turn, referred to a June 2001 Insight Magazine article entitled "Preparing for The Next Pearl Harbor Attack."

As the sister publication of the Moonie Times, Insight Magazine is umbilically connected to the bushistas. And the article's author, J. Michael Waller, seemingly took his writing orders straight from the White House Press Office, so magnanimous is his praise of Bush's administration and bitter is his condemnation of Clinton's.

But it's extremely interesting to note that, while it characterizes the bushistas as totally focused on domestic terror defense and disaster preparedness, it mentions no real Bush administration activities regarding strategies for confronting and stopping Al Qaeda (or any other terrorists, for that matter) before they hit us. Clearly, the bushistas were interested only in preparing for the aftermath of an attack that they knew was coming.

Although the author obviously never intended his article to be damning to the bushistas, I think it overwhelmingly bolsters the LIHOP theory. But read it and draw your own conclusions.

Preparing for The Next Pearl Harbor Attack

Pearl Harbor probably will happen again. Only this time the attacks won't be in far-off Hawaii but against the American mainland. That's what some of the nation's top experts are saying as the national-security community scrambles to ward off attempts to attack the U.S. homeland with terrorist weapons of mass destruction and crippling raids on public- and private-sector information systems on which the entire economy - and the American way of life - depend.

-snip-

And then there's the "electronic Pearl Harbor," a phrase coined by Richard Clarke, President Clinton's national coordinator for security, infrastructure protection and counter-terrorism. An electronic Pearl Harbor would be a surprise attack on the country's fragile information systems that keep the economy and society running.

-snip-

The Bush administration has seized the problem aggressively with a range of initiatives to have a working system in place to defend the country against attacks on its critical infrastructure. Pentagon insiders tell Insight that Rumsfeld's reviews pay close attention to homeland defense and that the administration is weighing creation of a special office for that purpose.

-snip-

He warns, however, that the private sector's failure to regulate itself only invites more government regulation. Due to the nature of the threat to the U.S. homeland, Clarke argues that the government must insist on cooperation from the private sector - especially because more than 90 percent of the country's critical infrastructure is in private hands. "There is a unique challenge here," Clarke recently told a CSIS gathering. "For the first time in our history, the armed forces cannot defend us from the foreign threat. They cannot surround the power grid. Therefore, we are asking the private sector to defend not only itself, but the country as well."

1. very interesting, thanks.
Coincidentally, I just saw this:

DIRTY BOMB MEMES RE-SURFACING
THE NEOCONS KEEP PRE ELECTION OPTIONS OPEN

Get ready Americans, because right now clandestine operations teams controlled by the NeoCons are deploying on American soil, the next spectacular terror attacks designed to usher in the next phase of their futile grasp at totalitarian control. Absolutely positively within 11 months there will be a massive terrorist attack on American soil. This attack will absolutely positively be an "Inside job," perpetrated by the same US based pseudo-religious military / industrial / intelligence triad linked to the Bush family who perpetrated the Twin Towers attacks.

With the dreaded 2004 election theft only 11 months away the big question is whether or not the freedom fighters and activists and alternative Internet news services will be able to expose and stop the plans of the NWO crusaders. Will democracy survive the coming assault that Bushes NeoCon sociopaths have in store for it? Will democracy survive General Tommy Franks' declaration of Martial Law? Surly a military coup d'etat is what they are preparing (us for) or (for us).

The countdown is on. Freedom is hanging on a thread.

2. If Clarke has the bushistas as scared as they appear to be, I fear that...
...not only will voxfux be proven right but it will happen very soon.

3. I've read your piece, the links, and Octafish's piece/excerpts...
What, in your opinion, does it all mean? My eyes are like pinwheels spinning in my head from all the details.

Are we saying that the neocon sociopaths are trying to take over the United States, whole world or what?

I know they want to undermine anything that goes against their agenda; I know Bush is a sick man (as are many in his camp). I just don't quite "see" what the end game is suppose to be for them.

I hear these creeps talk about One World Order crap, I hear about credible "plots", I am smart enough to know these guys are NOT really Christian in the truest sense of the doctrine. So, what is the whole idea for such destruction and control? If we all die, who will work the sweatshops.

Just curious as to what posts like these are trying to say..ULTIMATELY. I have my own suspicions. I'm aware that many of the details I've read are valid; I've seen a lot of this stuff in other websites. Still, I'm curious what you folks believe the "final analysis" is going to be. ?

4. The endgame is, now, is what the endgame has always been...
...acquisition and control. Every war, every political movement, every dynasty, every religion, and every government lives and dies in service to competition for finite resources. Never before has that competition taken on such global proportions nor have the stakes ever been so high. But the imperialistic ambitions of the bushistas are not unique in history.

The good news? History tells us that no entity has ever remained in power forever. The bad news, though, is that untold numbers of innocents will lose their lives, families here and abroad will be devastated, and the environment will sustain tremendous harm before the neocons become so bloated, lazy, and arrogant that they eventually succumb to their own excesses.

5. the end game:
I believe the world faces a convergence of unprecedented crises - peak oil, economic collapse and catastrophic climate change, but three - and they know it. Old paradigms won't manage the looming chaos. Their pre-emptive response: militarize American society to preserve domestic order, and take by force what they need of the world.

There's a method to their madness. It's global fascism.

I like how Hunter S Thompson said it: "Big darkness coming."

6. Do the principal players have a comprehensive understanding...
...of the precarious condition of the world? If they really did, wouldn't they see how ultimately self-defeating their behavior is? Most of them probably have the capacity to see the big picture, but their vision is willfully sacrificed on the altar of avarice.

It's not love that's blind. It's greed.

7. they are old men
For them, their behavior is not self-defeating. It isn't their lives that will be cut short in a super-storm or by a sudden loss of food or medicine.

8. But where is their instinct to preserve their genetic material by...
...optimizing the survival odds of their offspring? Evolutionary behavioral theory dictates that posterity must be secured.

In any case, systemic imbalance causes the organism--whether single-celled or planetary--to seek homeostasis. When the drive to acquire survival resources mutates into disequal distribution of those resources, a series of reactions will be triggered, resulting in either a) the pursuit of fresh resources, as when Europeans invaded the New World, or b) catastrophic natural consequences, as when the Black Plague wiped out two-thirds of the European population.
