A poignant moment four years ago
I remember one very nice day in September of 2000 a group of students at my university decided to hold a rally in support of Ralph Nader of the Green Party. The rally was out on the plaza where all of the student groups typically set up their card tables. On this sunny day I decided to eat my lunch outside and watch the Naderities' rally. The rally was rather forgettable, but what was notable was watching the reaction of the students sitting at the College Republicans' table. These arrogant looking white frat boys and their Stepford sorority princess girlfriends. They were watching with absolute glee, giggling and laughing at the Nader/Green Party rally. They knew what it meant, and what the implications of it would be.

5. They were laughing because
They're a fringe party. People in fringe parties get the stigma of looking like utter crackpots; with TV shows chanting the same mantra too.

That's far more plausible than, circa 200 mindset, "Ha ha ha, the greens will help us win, moohahahaha..."

I'd like to see a Perot-like figure come up and draw more votes away from *...
