Polling: A Historical Perspective for 2004(stop spasming with every poll)

For those who think it is such a bad thing for us to be tied in late March and early April, look at these times when incumbants have been up. We are in the best shape at this time since Jimmy Carter in 1976.

4. Quite right.
Kick again. I'm still waiting for the pessimists to finally respond to some perspective.

6. Or another way to look at is. . .
the lead in the baseball divisions will change many, many times this summer, and the winner of the World Series -- indeed, who will even play in the Series -- won't be decided for months to come. And yet, the Series will be over before we go to the polls in November. Still, they haven't yet played a single game in this long, long baseball season. So it is with the election. The campaign's only beginning, and even though there may be indications the other team is coming on strong, they just played a long first inning, most of it on defense. They may tire (same as us) in the early stretches, but it's who's on top at the end who claims the prize.

Just keep reminding yourself: It's a long, hard season, and no single game -- let alone a single play -- is going to win it all. It'll be won through hard work and the cumulative effects of month's of campaigning.
