why "Stay the Couse" ??
the course is not working.

im suprised to see so much repeating of Bush's message here on DU.
(that we must.. "Stay the Course")

cut and run, so the UN can come in..
or stay there untill the oil is extracted (and from iran too)

those are the choices? yes?
why so much occupation apologizing and supporting bush-logic!

1. we had no business going there and we should not occupy either

Iraq belongs to the people of Iraq
If they want a democracy let them build it
If they want a theocracy let them built it

The purpose of U.S. presence is purely resource extraction
and people who say "Oh we owe it to them to rebuild" are being
naive about this whole affair.

The U.S. should leave and the assets of Halliburton should be siezed, liquidated, and use as reparations to be paid directly to the Iraqi people.

2. The phrase "stay the course" is a euphemism.
When politicians tell us that we must stay the course, what they really mean is that we must keep making the same stupid mistake endlessly.

3. Bush 1 coined the phrase during his reelection campaign
and junior seems to think it's a good idea to. I remember some of the tv satirists making fun of it.

4. Who could forget the Bush/Clinton debate?
I am referring to the one on Saturday Night Live where Dana Carvey delivers an answer to a debate question consisting solely of trite phrases such as that.

I think Carvey was secretly hoping Bush I would get re-elected, so he could continue making shitloads of money impersonating him for another four years.

5. That's the one I was thinking of but couldn't quite remember -
Carvey had the whole hand gestures thing for 'stay the course' but exaggerated it so it was really funny.

6. Because Bush is a lowlife fratboy who is clueless and just does what hes
told and says what hes told to say. Cheney has his hand up Bush's arse and makes sure his little monkey speaks what hes told to say
bring the troops home now
