What do you think the Pilots were told?
My son works for one of the major commercial airlines. He's not a pilot, but I was bitching about seversl pilots on DU saying they were not warned about potential hijackings prior to 9/11.

He said his area gets so many allerts that they become meaningless.

Is it possible that the FAA did notify the airlines, and they did notify their pilots, but because of so many other noticws, the real ones got lost in the mire. Are we dealing with a "the sky's falling" syndrome?

1. I flew on Sept. 10 out of DC
There was NO security, I mean NONE.

The bag xray attendant was talking to her buddy and laughing, didn't even look at the screen when I went through.

It bothered me, even then.

There was no serious attempt to increase security.

2. Pilots here say no warnings of hijckings your son says so many.....
warnings they become meaningless. I take it your son is in a position of firsthand knowledge of what is warned or not warned? Is he talking about all warnings or just hi-jackings? Would hi-jacking warning be a major red flag or just another meaningless warning? I noticed his explanation is very similar to what this administration is saying.

3. My son is not a pilot.
He is a licensed aircraft mech. He admitted he has not idea what kind of warnings the pilots get, but that he gets all kind of warnings & bulletins for things that don't have anything to do with his job.

He also said "do you realize how many threats the US gets each day?" I don't know the answer to that either, but I responded to him that if I was a pilot, If for no other reason that self preservation, I would sure be paying attention!

I guess my only point was that if you get so much of this same kind of stuff all the time, it does become meaningless.

I don't have the answer, and I'm not saying that people shouldn't be accountable, and I sure not excusing the administration! I think thes is a situation similar to "if you are a bank guard in whatchathowsit, MN, and nothing ever happens there, you are still not doing your job if the bank gets robbed while you are on duty!

NO, I'm not blaming the pilots! I'm blaming the President for not screaming LOUD ENOUGH tht the emphasis wasn't put on this issue to the CIA, FBI, FAA, and DOJ to make sure EVERY employee was LOOKING!!!!!

4. Not sure what pilots do
however when I was an Air Traffic Controller I had to get a daily briefing and then had to initial these warnings. We had to be at work 20 minutes early . 15 minutes briefing and on to the scopes.
Not only pilots would have been warned but controllers too. However the FBI wouldn"t allow them to talk after 9-11. I did read/hear how one controller meet with the Jersey Girls so he could help them understand the failures on that day.
