Blair gone bonkers
Did anyone read his letter to Observer? http://observer.guardian.co.uk/comment/story/0,6903,1189906,00.html

He's gone bonkers. Utterly mad. Lock him up in the funny-house, please.

2. Tony Blair: The sound of one lip flapping
How absurd this little exercise in attempted reality creation seems after the events of the last year or so.

3. e.g. this part
"They know it is a historic struggle. They know their victory would do far more than defeat America or Britain. It would defeat civilisation and democracy everywhere. They know it, but do we? The truth is, faced with this struggle, on which our own fate hangs, a significant part of Western opinion is sitting back, if not half-hoping we fail, certainly replete with schadenfreude at the difficulty we find."

"Defeat civilisation and democracy everywhere"? Seriously???!!! UK is now ruled by lunatic madman who has completely lost touch with reality. Do something, please, he scares the shit out of me!

4. If Iraq becomes governed by the people can they kick the...
American oil interests out of the country?

Hey is Iraq still in the OPEC cartel or what?

5. What flavor Kool-aid has he been drinking?
No one is disputing that the world is better off without terrorists and dictatorships! What we are disputing, dear Tony, is your real goal (domination-not freedom) and your methodology. What part of that don't you get?

6. These "terrorists" do not, cannot, never could operate in
a socio-political vaccum: they must have popular support or they would be exposed. Iraq is a war for occupation, not democratization. If Bush & Co. really cared about democracy they would have required it in Kuwait, another "liberated" country. The reasons Blair cites for the war are simply a sham.

Blair is truly bonkers as you say.

7. I tried to read it but couldn't
I kept hearing him speak it in his pompous, supercilious manner.

Ugh. I've had enough of you, Tony Blair. Go crawl under a rock, please.

8. The real worry
Edited on Sun Apr-11-04 08:53 AM by aneerkoinos
with Blair, unlike with cynical neocon chickenhawks, what that article clearly shows, is that he clearly believes what he's saying, it's not just rhetorics. Paranoid and psychotic, bad case of Messiah-complex.

9. Vietnam redux...playing the same fiddle....for 14 years, as thousands
were KILLED...the Vietnam mantra was 'well, if we leave, communism will TAKE OVER THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD'.....'AND, our military will be dis-honored'....

so we stayed for 14 years, BILLIONS of dollars, 58,000 of OUR troops KILLED, and millions of Vietnam people KILLED....

at the end, we scrambled off the embassy roof, with people pushing and killing each other to get on those last helicopters....and Vietnam remains communist, and it hasn't bothered anyone in the USA, and communism did not take over the whole wide world...

so now, IRAQ....same crap....and now, how long will WE tolerate the daily KILLINGS with OUR tax money?

10. I detect not just the messiah complex but the congenital
British Imperialist Complex. This has- been imperialist is now piggybacking on the American Colossus to kick some wogs like they used to do in the olden days and couching it in the neocon propaganda he has no doubt learned during his stopovers in D.C.

In all the gibberish he spouts one is hard put to learn that the War on Iraq is a war of false pretexts. He also has the gall to claim that
Muslims are enemies of civilization, the exact turn of phrase employed by the neocon NYTimes pundit David Brooks.

The British people would do well to get rid of this crazy monster spawn in the next election.

12. I agree 100% with this part:
If we succeed - if Iraq becomes a sovereign state, governed democratically by the Iraqi people; the wealth of that potentially rich country, their wealth; the oil, their oil; the police state replaced by the rule of law and respect for human rights - imagine the blow dealt to the poisonous propaganda of the extremists. Imagine the propulsion toward change it would inaugurate all over the Middle East.

And I think that's a "fuck you" to Bush, because he knows that this isn't Bush's goal. He knows that, for Bush, it's about transferring the oil wealth to the US.

And I think this is why the right wing in the US really hates him, as various RW'ers have been admitting lately.

13. He could go and read this out loud...
to those burried in the Fallujah stadium, whose blood is on his hands.

Not to speak of the several thousand already in his body count.

What will Ann Clwyd say when one day Tony's mass graves will be
unearthed in Iraq?

And then there are those here at DU that will aplaud Bush policies if
it is Blair defending them... :eyes:
