*'s life accomplishments
I frequently scan the Yahoo! financial message boards and usually ignore 99% of the garbage posted there, but I came across this one poster who has compiled one of the most comprehensive lists of the "accomplishments" of the shrub, and I wanted to share it with you guys. We ought to send this list to all 9 Democratic candidates to use as ammo in their campaigns. (sorry for the length, but I think it loses something if not all included)

The lifetime accomplishments of George W. Bush

I ran for congress and lost.

I produced a Hollywood slasher B movie.

I bought an oil company, but couldn't find any oil in Texas; company went
bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock.

I bought the Texas Rangers baseball team in a sweetheart deal that took land
using taxpayer money.

With my father's help, I was elected Governor of Texas.

GEORGE'S ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

I changed pollution laws for oil and power companies and made Texas the most
polluted state in the nation.

Houston replaced L.A. as the most smog ridden city in America.

I cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas government with billions in borrowed
money.

I set the record for most executions by any governor in American history.

I became president, after losing the popular vote by over 500,000 votes, (with
the help of Republican appointments to the
Supreme Court).

GEORGE AS PRESIDENT:

I attacked and took over two countries.

I spent the country's surplus and bankrupted the treasury.

I shattered the record for biggest annual deficit in history.

I set economic record for most private bankruptcies filed in any 12 month
period.

I set all-time record for biggest stock market drop in its history.

I am the first president in decades to execute a federal prisoner.

I am the first president in US history to enter office with a criminal
record.

In my first year in office set the all-time record for most vacation days
taken by any president. After taking the entire month of August off for
vacation, I presided over the worst security failure in US history.

I set the record for most campaign fund-raising trips of any other president
in US history.

In my first two years in office, over 2 million Americans lost their jobs. I
cut unemployment benefits for more out of work
Americans than any president in US history.

I set the all-time record for the most mortgage foreclosures in a 12-month
period.

I appointed more convicted criminals to administration positions than any
president in US history.

I set the record for the lowest number of press conferences than any
president since the invention of television.

I signed more laws and executive orders amending the Constitution than any
president in US history.

I presided over the biggest energy crises in US history and refused to
intervene when corruption was revealed. I presided over the highest gasoline
prices in US history and refused to use the national reserves as past
presidents have.

I cut healthcare benefits for WAR veterans.

I set the all-time record for most people worldwide to simultaneously take
to the streets to protest me (15 million people), shattering the record for
protest against any person in the history of mankind.

I dissolved more international treaties than any president in US history. My
presidency is the most secretive and unaccountable of any in US history.

Members of my cabinet are the richest of any administration in US history..

I am the first president in US history to have all 50 states bankrupted at
the same time.

I presided over the biggest corporate stock market fraud of any market in
any country in the history of the world.

I am the first president in US history to order a US attack and military
occupation of a sovereign nation, regardless of world opinion.

I set the all-time record for biggest annual budget spending increases, while
at the same time proposing tax cuts.

I am the first president in US history to have the United Nations remove the
US from the human rights commission. I am the first president in US history to
have the United Nations remove the US from the elections monitoring board.

My administration has the least amount of congressional oversight than any in
US history.

I withdrew from the World Court of Law.

I refused to allow inspectors access to US prisoners of war, as prescribed
by the Geneva Convention.

I hold the record for most corporate campaign donations. My biggest
lifetime campaign contributor, who is also one of my best friends, presided
over one of the largest corporate bankruptcy frauds in world history
(former CEO of Enron Corporation).

Feel free to add any that you know of that were missed and should be added to the list.

1. Innacuracies
Look, GW has enough to critisize without resorting to erroneous information. It does us no good to help perpetuate distortions. Among the obviously wrong or suspect accusations:

- I set all-time record for biggest stock market drop in its history.
- I presided over the biggest energy crises in US history ...
- I presided over the highest gasoline prices in US history ...
- I signed more laws and executive orders amending the Constitution than any president in US history. (That's just plane goofy. The president doesn't amend the Constitution.)
- I am the first president in US history to have all 50 states bankrupted at the same time. (Can you name one state that is bankrupt?)
- I cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas government with billions in borrowed money. (When did Texas go bankrupt?)
- I am the first president in US history to order a US attack and military occupation of a sovereign nation, regardless of world opinion.
- I hold the record for most corporate campaign donations. (Now this really would be news since corporations are prohibited from donating a single penny to candidates.)

2. Hey HFishbine !
You are of course right, but with some minor changes, most of the inaccuracies you listed can be corrected to read true.

I'll give you these three, they are conjecture and opinion, but may not be far from the truth:

- I set all-time record for biggest stock market drop in its history.
- I presided over the biggest energy crises in US history ...
- I presided over the highest gasoline prices in US history ...

You are correct that the president does not ammend the Constitution, but if this one was re-worded to the following it would ring true:

- I signed more laws and executive orders ignoring the Constitution than any president in US history.

And if this one was re-worded as such :

- I cut taxes and saddled the Texas government with billions in borrowed money.

As to this one:

- I am the first president in US history to order a US attack and military occupation of a sovereign nation, regardless of world opinion

I cannot recall any previous US president who ordered the Attack AND Occupation of any sovereign nation regardless of world opinion. I believe the majority of world opinion has been in our corner in every war the US has engaged in, either due to humanitarian or national interests, until the recent fiasco in Iraq.

This one is true in spirit if not in the exact wording:

- I hold the record for most corporate campaign donations.

While corporations cannot donate directly to candidates, they can give to and encourage their officers and employees to contribute to PACs, who can then make donations to candidates or provide free media exposure thorugh issue ads or attack ads. I don't think anyone would argue that * has not received more backing from corporate America than any president or even candidate in previous US history.

4. Hey Tarheel
No doubt the record is bad, and indeed your suggested corrections correct the innacuracies. My point was simply that there are people who sense that this may indeed be "the worst president ever" and this list could serve to convince some people about why. Those who are on the fence though will dismiss the whole list if they notice a few falsitites. They'll just chalk it up to Bush bashing.

7. True in Spirit
I have to say this is the biggest nonsense I've ever read--not your list, which doesn't seem all that far off the mark, but the idea that you can be "True in Spirit" Being "True in spirit" is a lot like "Lying my ass off to prove a noble political purpose"

It's this kind of intellectual laziness that we don't need. You obviously have an ok head on your shoulder based on your writing--but expect a bit more of yourself.

I don't think anyone would argue that * has not received more backing from corporate America than any president or even candidate in previous US history.

Actually I'm pretty sure there are plenty of people who would argue this point, even if you might not run into many of them on this board.

Anyway the other poster is right--there is enough wrong with President Bush that we can point out without lazily padding the score.

while my contemporaries were either standing up against the war in Vietnam.... or dying in it..... I refused to uphold even my slight obligation to the Texas Air National Guard.... In fact I went AWOL and am now Commander in Chief.
What a laugh riot.... I would like to see John Kerry punch him out!

8. Two minor ones
1. Federal execution: T. McVeigh (he'd have been executed with any president serving).
2. Energy crisis: Any of us who lived thru the oil embargo in '73 will tell you that you have no idea of what you speak.

10. A few
Cronus, your link also has some innacuracies:

"Set all-time record for biggest loss of value in the history of the stock market during any presidency."

I believe this "honor" belongs to Hoover.

http://ichart.yahoo.com/z?s=^dji&a=v&p=s&t=my&l=on&z=l&q=l

"Presided over the biggest energy crises in US history..."

No. The early 70's were far worse.

"Presided over the highest gasoline prices in US history..."

Again, early 70's.

"First president in US history to have all 50 states of the Union simultaneously reach the point of insolvency."

Nope. All 50 states are not at the point of insolvency.

"First president in US history to have the United Nations remove the US from the human rights commission."

Bush didn't "have" them do this.

"All-time US (and world) record holder for most corporate campaign donations."

No. It would be a major scandal if he received any money from corporate contributors.

"Removed more freedoms and civil liberties for Americans than any other president in US history."

Actually, Lincoln suspended Habeus Corpus (sp?) completely.

"Entered office with the strongest economy in US history and in less than two years turned every single economic category into a sharply downward trend."

No. Housing - up.

These are just the things about which I have stored knowledge. Others may be just as innacurate. Here's a test. If you can provide a link to an authoritative source, keep it on your list. Otherwise, too much of it is obviously incorrect and much of it sounds implausible.

11. I had just received this "resume" in an email
and was going to post it. As other posters have pointed out, some of the statements are not technically accurate, but the resume does capture the spirit of Bush's accomplishments.

By the way, one poster pointed out that housing had gone up under Bush. Now that mortgage interest rates are rising, it will be interesting to see what happens. (I want to buy a house and so the mortgage interest rates affect me personally.)
