Picard versus Ashcroft - Which one is lying?
Picard said that he met with Ashcroft a few times before 9/11 and said that Ashcroft didn't want to hear anymore about terrorism. Ashcroft says he's lying. I know this 9/11 commission will be a whitewash but how come none of the tv pundits are talking about this?

3. Ashcroft is lying because God told him to
Well, it might have been Dickless Cheney but Ashcroft wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

5. What about possible conflict...
of interest with commission member Gorelick. Asskroft is putting blame on her (as well as Clinton) that her 1995 memo created "the wall" that hindered the intelligence agencies. Should she recuse herself from the commission?

9. The Bush people chose Ms. Gorelick. I don't care if she recuses
herself or not. The outcome will be a whitewash.

6. who has the most to lose?
or should I say, who has more ass to cover?

AssKKKroft, of course. he's being a good facist and towing the BushCo line.

and they did mention the Picard/Ashcroft "disagreement" on the ABC Nightly News last night...without the harsh language of "LIARS! LIARS! LIARS!" I also got to see AssKKKroft sound like a Bush clone with that "I did never say I didn't....." idiotic non-statement.

7. Let's take a look at the really religious man...
John Ashcroft. This is an extremely religious man who attends lots of church and speaks in tongues. He even has himself anointed with holy oil before any major speeches. (I'm assuming he really got anointed before his testimony yesterday).

John is one of these guys who wants to get in there and 'clean up society' and all the filth that the rest of us indulge in. In other words, a man we can all look up to for guidance and leadership. Right?

I believe he swore on the bible yesterday. I'm certain he lied. Not just once, but several times.

Isn't that one of the 10 commandments, "Thou shall not lie"?

11. At the public (9-11) hearings
They do not swear on the bible nor do they utter the words "So help me God."

The Bible and God stuff is used only to intimidate the witless, ignorant masses.

IMHO.

So help me God.

8. Ashcroft kept passing the buck. . .to Jamie Gorelick. . .
and grandstanded his appearance. Arrogant asshole.

(snip)
WASHINGTON - Attorney General John Ashcroft highlighted a bitter hearing on the 9/11 terror attacks yesterday by blaming the Clinton administration for intelligence failures that led to the catastrophe.
In a stunning salvo, Ashcroft pinned the "single greatest structural cause for Sept. 11" on Jamie Gorelick, a member of the 9/11 commission who served as former President Bill Clinton's deputy attorney general.

As Gorelick sat smirking, Ashcroft aides handed out a declassified Justice Department memo authored by Gorelick that Ashcroft said erected a legal wall that thwarted terror probes by forbidding the sharing of information between criminal and intelligence agents at the FBI.

"We did not know an attack was coming because for nearly a decade our government had blinded itself to its enemies," he said. But Ashcroft repeatedly was challenged by other witnesses and panel members.

Republican commissioner Slade Gorton, a former Senate colleague of Ashcroft's who sat next to Gorelick, challenged him for saying the "wall" kept the FBI from stopping 9/11.

"If that wall was so disabling, why was it not destroyed during the course of those eight months ?" asked Gorton, who produced an August 2001 memo by an Ashcroft deputy that reaffirmed the wall separating intelligence and criminal case work.
(snip)
(snip)
The bickering, excuses and picture of a confused government before 9/11 were disheartening to families attending the hearing.

Kristen Breitweiser, a 9/11 widow, and Mary Fetchet, whose son Brad was killed, said they were left "speechless" by the spectacle.

Ann MacRae, a Manhattan mom whose daughter Kat died in the World Trade Center, said she found the former officials' excuses sickening. "I didn't like how my daughter's death was reduced to budget deficits," she said.
(snip)

Like I said, an arrogant asshole.

:grr:

10. The one who has a reason to lie
Why would Pickard make this up? Why would Ashcroft admit it, if true?
