Tenet in Crawford, Aug 2001?
A Seattle friend (hi, nutmeg) found this on the White House web site.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2001/08/20010825-2.html

Q When you have those business meetings, like the Joint Chiefs briefing, do you like to keep it separate from the living quarters on the ranch?

THE PRESIDENT: Actually, you know, what we call the governor's house, the place where you all came out during the -- that's where we went. Condi and Karen Hughes stayed there. And right across the street from that is a -- it's a nice looking government doublewide. (Laughter.) And that's where the mil aide, the nurse, the WHCA head, the doc, they stay.

The CIA briefings, I have on our porch, the end of our porch looking out over the lake. When Tenet came up, that's where we visited, out there.

You know, everybody wants to see the ranch, which I'm proud to show it off. So George Tenet and I -- yesterday, we piled in the new nominees for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, the Vice Chairman and their wives and went right up the canyon.

. . .

1. That would make three possible August meetings --
The WH log is dated Aug. 25, so "yesterday" would have been Aug. 24. And, from the CIA spokesman regarding Tenet's "misstatement":

"In fact, Tenet flew to Texas to brief Bush on Aug. 17, 2001, and briefed the president again on Aug. 31 when Bush returned to Washington, a spokesman for Tenet said later in the day."

Very curious....

LIAHHHHHHHH.. Tenet is a LIAHHHHHHH..

The way these people claim to be "forgetful or unsure" about their actions, meetings, etc on the days surrounding the WTC "event", is totally incredulous.. It always reminds me of the fact the GHWB can't remember where HE was when Kennedy was assassinated.. (GHWB was in Dallas)

4. And, Gump-like, Poppy was in the WH on the morning of 9/11 --
Also, re. Al Franken and truth: What was Ashcroft's phrase during his 9/11 Commission testimony? Something like, "I'm not in a position to recall"?

ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON - CIA Director George Tenet misspoke when he told the commission investigating the Sept. 11 attacks Wednesday that he hadn't visited or spoken with President Bush in August 2001, a CIA spokeswoman said Thursday.

Tenet traveled to Crawford, Texas, to brief the president on Aug. 17 and 31.

Tenet made the mistake under questioning by commissioner Timothy Roemer, a former Democratic congressman from Indiana. U.S. officials were concerned about a possible terrorist strike during the summer of 2001 and were monitoring a spike in threat information.

============

amazing how many people connected with the WH end up "mis-speaking"

HOW THE HELL CAN YOU "FORGET" two trips to Crawford in August?

I had a pretty crappy opinion about Tenent, especially when he fell on his sword for bush* about the "yellow-cake"...

My opinion of Tenent changed a bit after reading Clarke's book, but I was still skeptical -- the Tenent that Clarke depicted did not quite mesh with the Tenent we have seen in the funny papers

well, with this latest "OOPS, I mispoke, let me fall on my sword again" -- I'm back to my crappy opinion of Tenent

can we send Tenet a sheepskin that he can wear whenever he throws himself on the bush* sacrifical alter?
