on edit, yes, the rapture itself doesn't scare me, because I don't believe in it. However, those people with the power to make armageddon happen, are also the people who DO believe in that shit.

believe in the rapture! They use the Christians who do believe in it, but the reconstructionists/theonomists/kingdom now folks do not believe in it! They believe that they are ushering in the Kingdom of God. They believe once they have converted America to Old Testament biblical laws, outlawed all religions except their version of Christianity, have dominated the world and made converts of a certain percentage of the globe (percentage changes depending on which group you talk to), that Jesus will come back to rule and reign, and those that led the movement will rule with him. That's what these people believe!

There are lots of folks who believe in the rapture that are going along with these guys. They do not broadcast their views too openly in mixeed company. But the outcome is the same. A Christian America based on Old Testament Law.

Go to www.religioustolerance.org and read up on theonomy. Better yet, do a google search and read some of these guys outright.
