Another point of view about torture

I was reading FreeRepublic (bleh), and was so offended by the thread of torture of Iraqis, I decided to send the following email to the newsdesk of my local paper (Boston Globe). If you think it's a good idea, feel free to send it to your local paper, too.

Seeing how the press widely covered the tacky editorial about Pat Tillman written by a UMass student, I think a link like the following is even more worthy of coverage.

In this thread, many of the members of FreeRepublic are trying to justify the humilition and torture of Iraqis by American soldiers.

Freerepublic is probably the largest right-wing forum on the Internet. They have organized protests and hosted events for right-wing Congressmen. One of their most celebrated events was in honor of the 13 House Managers who helped impeach Clinton. I believe they claim to have about 60,000 members.

Found it interesting how they both justified it and also tried to spin it in an anti-gay way ("that's what happens when you let fags and dikes (sic) into the military").

Those guys are very big on incendiary rhetoric but my impression has always been of a bunch of obese middle-aged losers who can't get laid taking out their frustration with their absurdly over-the-top posts.

It really is a toilet there.
