Imagine if a Democratic President was running this war and he or she put a former Baath Party general in charge of Fallujah, as US troops pulled out of the city.

Imagine if under a Democratic president US officials in Iraq were negotiating terms with militants in Fallujah and Najaf.

Imagine if under a Democratic president we allowed former Baath Party officials to assume positions in the new Iraqi government.

We would never hear the end of it from the corporate media and the pinheads in this Congress about how the Administration was fighting a half-war and putting American lives at risk. The neo-con think tanks and keyboard peckers would piss and moan about "appeasement". They'd be screaming bloody murder, demanding the use of nuclear weapons, and nothing the Administration did would be "tough" enough for these people.
