MoDo: "They don't see dead people."
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/05/02/opinion/02DOWD.html

This administration is the opposite of "The Sixth Sense." They don't see any dead people.

Beyond the president's glaring absence at military funerals; beyond the Pentagon's self-serving ban on photographing the returning flag-draped coffins at Dover; beyond playing down the thousands of wounded and maimed American troops and the thousands of hurt and dead Iraqi civilians, now comes the cruel arithmetic of Paul Wolfowitz.

What can you say about a deputy defense secretary so eager to invade Iraq he was nicknamed Wolfowitz of Arabia, so bullish to remold the Middle East he froze the State Department out of the occupation and then mangled it, who doesn't bother to keep track of the young Americans who died for his delusion?

<snip>

The W.M.D. reason vanished. And, with the re-Baathification of the de-Baathification, the American idealism rational is not panning out.

Hiding the faces of the war dead makes the motivation seem like saving face in an election year.

Americans won't take casualties for the credibility of the Bush administration. That's not a good enough reason for people to die.

5. That was great
but just last week she had to cut and paste from Jody Wilgorns piece about Kerry's supposed Butler... She slip back and forth in her Ho'isim...I wish she'd do an Arianna and just knock it off...

2. She is getting better and better.
And the McCain quip is a stark reminder; why don't we hear OUR candidate on these essential questions about the conscience of this nation?
(Disclaimer: I hate the bejesus of Mccain who voted against funds for post 911 NYC and allowed W to insult his kid, wife but won't allow anyone attack W)

6. I wrote MoDo in an email that this oped piece was a
departure from her usual habit of trivializing serious subjects and I
hoped that she continues this trend.I also stated that when she
stops her another noxious habit of portarying a draft dodger like Cheney as morally equivalent to a war hero like John Kerry or Max Cleland, her transformation will be complete and she can truly earn the respect and gratitude of average Americans.
