When our bravest die for a lie
You don't ridicule them for their sacrifice. You find those that sent them into the mouth of hell and make them account for every single life lost.

9/11 changed this country. It may have been scripted. It may have been neglegence. But not everyone is tapped into information the way we are (and there is no way to even confirm if our take on the matter is accurate). Many saw their loved ones at risk. Many saw their fellow citizens in danger (thats us by the way). And they stepped forward and placed their life on the line for those reasons.

You do not blame those that sacrifice their life at the behest of a conartist. You mourn their loss and seek the con artist.

We live in a world that is intensely complex. The truth of things is not always readily apparent. There are those that would twist and turn the truth and create a false world for those with less resources to discover the world for themself. It is these villains that must pay for all the harm they cause.

1. You hit upon something important
The truth of things is not always readily apparent.

That happens to be one of the strengths of DU. It lets us sort things out in order to find (or at least approximate) the truth.

I agree, we must sort out the real villains and hold them responsible.

2. binary thinkers are nobody's friends, especially not their "allies"

Those who identify themselves to be of the left who automatically dismiss and deride anyone who goes along with certain policies of the administration or the right do us all a disservice. Life is complex, and people who demand simplicity are either oblivious or consider themselves somehow morally above the fray.

In the end, the goal should be to reach consensus; trying to come up with the cutest bon mots to amuse the hardliners is counterproductive. Hammering anyone who doesn't toe the line isn't going to help.

3. I admire--and feel for--our troops...
And the one I blame for them BEING in this hell-hole in the first place is the one who sent 'em there...actually, the three or four: Dub, Cheney, Rummy, and Wolfowitz. Them I blame for our troops dying because of THEIR lies!

B-)
