How does the government collect revenue?
The only way I know is through taxes.(stay with me here) Then it follows that deficit spending can only be counted as future taxes. So why hasn't Kerry pointed out *'s tax increases. He hasn't cut taxes he has increased them.

3. The argument is that the tax cut will lead to greater
productivity, more jobs and an expansion of the economy thus more money will come in through taxes through the increase in overall GDP. It's a total crock of shit basically.

6. Tax cuts aside
Deficit spending (the war ~200 billion to date) will have to be paid. I was looking at a story about the administration asking for another 25 billion before the end of this fiscal year for Iraq and it made me mad! My daughter will be footing the bill.

4. I saw a stat a few weeks ago...
Might have been on The Nation.

Anyways, they calculated the cost that each man, woman, and child would be paying towards the deficit in the future, and compared it to the benefit these people would see due to the tax cut.

I believe the cost per person was something like $1500, while the benefit from the tax cut was like $500. Thanks *'er!

5. Rome just before it folded went to debt via annuity sales
Edited on Wed May-05-04 07:36 PM by papau
the temptation is you take in 100 and only must pay out 5 each year - and you never pay the original 100.

It did not cause the Fall of Rome - but it shows the mind set of the rich was the same 2000 years ago!

:-)

So if we never need to pay it back - what deficit?

But do we want to collect taxes that only pay interest to those we borrowed from in the past - and which support no government services - indeed it is easy to show ways it gets out of control and the country does indeed go bankrupt.

But do you really expect the rich to pay taxes?

:-)
