Finally. A sex scandal for Bush
Edited on Thu May-06-04 12:57 AM by maggrwaggr
After all the lying, all the killing, all the maiming, all the corruption .....

the thing that's gonna bring Bushie down is .... SEX.

And not even his own.

Sado masochism in a prison, committed by those of whom he is the commander in chief.

Is this country weird, or WHAT?

Sorry, just had to throw that out there.

Everybody who said Bush could only be brought down by a blowjob were right.

edited to add the picture for good riddance

3. I'd rather see him go down for the lying and the killing
but this is all a part of it.

The fish rots from the head, and these "soldiers" were under his ultimate command. He set the tone.

21. We shouldn't be happy about this
Yeah it may bring down the Bush Regime, but stuff like this tarnishes all Americans.

My first reaction was the same as yours, "finally, something to cheer about."

But really we should not be so gleeful that American soldiers inflicted this kind of humiliation, even if it serves to oust Bush.

24. I have seen no one here say they are happy about what was done
Everyone is happy that finally this administration will be held accountable for at least something. We are sick of watching them get away with one crooked thing after another. Once this administration is gone the world will reevaluate America and how we effect the world.

26. Yes, it's very strange
I'm not happy about any of it. I've always been appalled by anyone gloating over the Bush atrocities, whether it's these or anything else.

Bush is the most destructive, negative force ever to occupy executive branch of our government.

Most of the world sees Bushco as a bigger threat than terrorism.

Bush needs to resign and take his flunkies with him.

Bush and his flunkies need to be in a prison themselves.

With each new day, there are fresh horrors that these people have brought upon their fellow human beings.

WHY are we letting him stay in office till January??????

Who else is gonna die between now and January?????

4. I thought about it all day, maggr.
I thought to myself, well, finally, a Bush-busting Iraq-Lies-shattering story grows legs, and it even took most of us by surprise. Ever since late last summer, all of the "legs" stories (Wilson-Plame, SOTU, Kay Report, Iraq War Supplemental, Clarke, 9/11 Commission, Medicare Scam, Woodward) have lost steam quickly, and Bush lost nothing tangible.

What is different about this story? Why is it raging on, gaining steam daily, a week later? We've been so obsessed with this story, we've hardly noticed that it's May 6th, and already 23 soldiers have died in Iraq (same pace as the way April started... to the day, actually).

It's a sex story, a penis story, a salacious story complete with photographs. It's a character story, a human interest story, long before it's a war story, a human rights story, a massive failure of fucking leadership from the President to Lynndie story.

You nailed it, and there's nothing wrong with recognizing that angle of the story. Every new day surprises me.

17. It's a sex story, yes, but it's very international
and ties into the Iraq war and our lack of credibility stories.

5. And note he STILL doesn't apologize!
President "Humble" (Bumble!) NEVER makes mistakes, so he never has to apologize!

What a totally useless tool

Personally I think a new logo/saying/something to be chanted out front of the evangelical of late (past 3 years) White House should be:

IT'S A SIN TO LIE!

12. Cheer up, blueknight... and welcome to DU!
First of all, it's early May. Sure, the clock is ticking, and I definitely wish that Kerry would hone his message and get on track, but at the same time, for two solid months events have conspired against Bush. For Kerry, it's almost a waste of breath to join the mounting chorus of anti-Bush news. Bush, his wretched administration, and this horrible war can look awful all by itself. No help from Kerry needed.

Just my take... ask me again in June, would ya? :-)

As far as the Great Ohio-Michigan "Yes We Can, America, And We're Going To Do It In A Canadian Bus" Tour is concerned, well, I imagine Chimpy and Rove are a little irritated that nobody is paying any attention, because we're all too busy freaking out about the photos coming out of Iraq and the Abu Ghraib scandal.

Read this thread in the Ohio DU Forum for a good discussion about yesterday's Ohio visits. :D

I apologize if it's bothering people too much.

I've really been wanting to cleanse my brain of the other photos, but the media keeps showing them ad infinitum.

i am a believer in seeing all that is going on. dont you dare censor yourself. i am a big person, i can handle it. for whatever reason, well i know, it is the treating of animal in the visual, cuase they treat them as animal in words and behavior this si just a visual for it.

i think it is a powerful picture to put out

can you say slavery and how we treated people. how women are treated, though it is a woman holding it. i think this is an important picture

27. As far as a woman holding the leash
women are still far from being equal in the military, in stance along with in number, and it appears to me that many are treated like Token in the South Park cartoon.
Rarely as an equal.
Additionally, if the guys REALLY like the female serving with them then she's treated as a special little pet. She's the center of attention and taught even more tricks; oh isn't she CUTE!
Bah!

IMO, of course.

16. curious why these abuses are on males only?
maybe because there are not many female prisoners?

or is it that the US military is so latently homosexual that they use the male prisoners to act out their sexual fantasies?

These pics look almost out of a gay porn movie...except that here, its not just acting and role-playing, but actual sexual abuse.

20. Listening To The "Moralists" Moralize...
Oh where oh where is Bill Bennett on the outrage here? How about it Laura Ingaham? Breakdown in morals? Put down the poker chips and the high ball and let's hear you condemn this as you did Clenis!!

The silence from our "moral leaders" in what is appearing to be a military culture of sadism and perversion speaks of their totally ideological and moral corruption.

Let's play a little game. Imagine gays were openly welcomed into the military (again, a game here) and it was gay soldiers, under a Democratic administration that were involved in such horrendous acts. The decibel readings of "outrage" would be unbearable. These hypocrites be forced into the open and state on the record their abhorance of both the acts and the people who are ultimately responsible (and doesn't the buck always stop at the top with these people?).

I'm so sick to think these are people who claim to represent my country. They need to be put to the measure now. Especially fat pill-popper boy who is trying to push this thing off as it's a "Fraternity Prank". Here's an asshole who is fighting REAL criminal charges, not having been picked up in the middle of the night, raped, humiliated and then tossed away.

Just watch, the revisionists are hard at work, the regime has already insulated itself by passing the buck and the media will tell you black is white.

It really does take that, doesn't it? We, as a people, have no problem with subjugation and outright murder, but SEX...STOP THE PRESSES!

Unfortunately, HE wasn't personally boffing young boys in captivity, so there's some spinning room left for him.

25. That Is What It Takes, Sir
It took the deaths of U.S. soldiers in unexpectedly large numbers to get people to think something might be wrong with invading and occupying Iraq. It takes the sexual abuse of prisonners by U.S. soldiers to keep people's attention focused on all that is wrong with occupying Iraq. Not reason but emotion moves people in the mass: it is one of the uncomfortable truths of political life....

"Desperate men do desperate things, and stupid men do stupid things. We are in for a desperately stupid summer."

"LET'S GO GET THOSE BUSH BASTARDS!"

28. "Having sex with a female" --Isn't that RAPE?!
Jesus Christ!

How do WE know if it was consensual?
I know if I were held a prisoner by a foreign occupation, there's NO WAY I would decide 'ooh, he's cute; why not?' and engage in sex with some strange soldier.

And I'm assuming THIS woman is Muslim, not the "good" Catholic school grrl I am! ;> I DO believe, on the whole, that orthodox Muslims tend to be a bit more... demure... than us US grrls; Catholic schoolgrrls or no...

The whole thing does NOT make sense!
