Show me the money, or at least the pictures?
The US is spending over 4 billion a month in Iraq to rebuild the country. Now Bu$h is asking for another $24 billion on top of that.

So my challenge to my fellow DUer's is to show me the money? I'm looking for pictures showing any reconstruction that is supposedly going on in Iraq?

I look at pictures of Iraq every day. I have yet to see anything resembling a major rebuilding project, or people at work on a project, or heavy equipment and cranes in operation at a construction site. Zero, nada, zilch. On the other hand I've seen 100's of pictures of the damage we have inflicted upon this country. 100's of pictures of dead and injured people. 100's of pictures of damaged buildings and rubble. Yet not one single picture of a new school, or a new medical clinic, or new houses to replace the ones in the villages we bombed back to the dark ages.

You would think that after spending $100 billion plus already, we would have something to show for it and that Bu$h would be waving those pictures around, to proudly prove how much we've done for the Iraqi people? So far, I've tried to follow the money and all I hear is a giant sucking sound.

1. there was a German report about it

I can't find it right now, but in effect the German Ambassador to Iraq reported that the multi-million-dollar "reconstruction" of the Iraqi schools turned out to be a hasty paint-job.
That was criticized, as Bechtel got Food-for-Oil funds to do so.

2. Nudge Nudge Wink Wink
Those pictures are strictly controlled by the "Liberal Media" that runs America.

Say No More!

Actually every time we build something right before the cameramen can get there to take a picture someone blows it up.

Or maybe this is better. I just saw this rerun of M*A*S*H last night:

Reporter - "Ben (i.e. Hawkeye), you spent two days building this...this..this..."

Hawkeye - "Thing-a-ma-bob"

Reporter - "Right, only to blow it up. What is it all about"

Hawkeye - "Senseless destruction. That's what it's all about"

:eyes:
