Bush claimed presumption of innocence for torturers (hell with prisoners)
Morning Sedition raised the great point that , while we were holding ourselves the beacon of democracy, W was now proud that we were "better than Saddam" ("his trained torturers were not brought to justice, ours will")
Lowered expectations....

1. We know now what's been going on in Iraq/Afghanistan - what about Gitmo?
Can you imagine what has been going on there? Will we ever know? At that point will it be too late?

2. If Doofus didn't know, what about Big Time Dick Head?
It's hard to believe that, if Rummy knew what was going on, he didn't say anything to his old bourbon buddy. Cheney's like god, he's nowhere and everywhere. He knows everything but tells nothing.

3. You put your finger on something
that was bothering me throughout the idiot's remarks yesterday.

He seemed to be taking this very patronizing tone -- "now you will see how things are done in a DEMOCRACY." The presumtion of innocence, open trials, and all.

But of course the Iraqis already know that NONE of that applies to them. They are imprisoned, abused, tortured, and even killed by the occupation without anyone giving them a chance to defend themselves. No due process for them.

Essentially, he was telling them over and over that this is the way WE do it, but of course YOU are a different story altogether. No need to give YOU the rights we are now going to give your abusers.
